Mannix (Mike Connors) was not only one of the great TV stars of my childhood-- but the greatest neighbor ever too in real life. I lived across the street from him and his wife for many years. He was an amazing guy. Honored to know him and his sweet wife.

When I hear this I'm 12 years old again, it's 1968 and babysitting my little cousin. When 10pm rolled around on Saturday night, that iconic Mannix theme would play and I'd be transfixed by the music!! Years later, I'm still transfixed by the exuberance and thrills of Schiffrin's theme. The show was OK, but the theme will stick around forever. I love hearing about how Leonard Berstein, Lalo Schiffrin and Quincy Jones all took lessons from Nadia Boulanger in composition. That's quite a trio of Maestros to brag on!

I was born in 1951, so Lalo Schifrin is one of the major film music influences of my youth. I still have the vinyl LPs of Mission Impossible, Mannix, Bullitt, and Dirty Harry. (Album covers are art.) I worn out an 8-track of the soundtrack to Bullitt. Lalo, if you see this...THANK YOU!!!

Lalo Schifrin wrote most of the popular show songs of my childhood. I think he and Neal Hefti are the most overlooked composers ever. My parents watched Mannix when I was a child and I loved the theme song even then. Thank you for sharing this magnificent mix.

For some reason the theme just popped into my head and now I cant stop listening, and that first change into the piano solo, you know the one, brings tears and strength to my eyes, REMINDING ME OF MY DADS GENERATION and will not go away.

Tight Lope and Mannix both starring Mike Connors were also very popular in Japan. When I was a child, my father watched the under cover detective story. I do not however know the main theme composer of Mannix is Lalo Schifrin. Thank you so much for your helping me to remember late father.

In the 1950s, Mike was a B-movie supporting actor nicknamed "Touch" Connors.
