I never came into the leveling problem. But what's fascinating is that I did very few side quests. From my experience, the fastest way to level is just to explore the castle. When you get new pages every few seconds, your goes up really fast.

I never ran into this level problem, in fact i had the opposite. Once let loose I did so much exploring I had far outleveled everything, and by the time the levels of quests started catching up to me it was already the end of the game. I never felt any need to grind, they give you so much xp just wandering hogwarts collecting pages you end up being level 20 before leaving. I didn't get access to talent points until I was level 23, and they were supposed to have come at 6!

I noticed throughout my playthrough that there isn't a curfew and Hogwarts doesn't have any prefects wandering the castle during the late hours of night. I think it would be fun being able to sneak around Hogwarts at night and avoiding prefects just like in the chamber of secrets game! Also, they should have had more of a focus on the house cup because it feels like nothing gameplay wise has house points be added or taken away.

I find it strange that you got stuck levelling. By the end of the first trial, I was level 18. I felt like the game gave healthy amounts of exp to ensure you are ready for the next missions. But I also enjoyed all the side quests because they had substance. Yes it's a fetch quest but we get some backstory to it which made it fun.

I didnt even notice there being Levelcaps. I 100% completed the Game on my First playthrough because i had so much fun doing all the little activities.

But i understand that not everyone plays the Game Like this

5:13 I feel called out. By the latter half of the game I was already a good ten levels ahead of the story.

Though I'm the sort of player that finished all the side quests before advancing the story.

So i think the game wants players to get lost in all the findables and collectibles. People who did that were not affected or even knew that there is a level cap

People really forgot the Lego games existed, right? The real first game, where you could explore the whole HarryPotter World and had all the unforgivable spells, since you could just play as Voldemort.

It's really surprising to me that this leveling thing is such a recurring issue to many players. My impression was that major bulk of exp hasn't came from side quests, but just from exploring the world, looking for field guide pages, combat, solving puzzles, or filling challenges on the field guide list. Not only I was always above the cap, but I even haven't encountered any issues with that final requirement that appears as the most common problem for players

My principal issue with the game is that it doesn"t feel real and natural. When I play Red Dead Redemption 2, I feel like i am immerse in a living world, that reacts with me and continues to exist when i am not playing.
In HL, it feels like a video game. Nobody reacts to your actions. You enter people's home, they say nothing, you open their treasure chest, they say nothing, you cast spell around them, they say nothing.
It takes me out of the world a little bit, I would have loved that the NPCs and the world react more with what the player do (and maybe have a moral system, like in RDR).

I started exploring like a madman at the beginning. I was lvl 18 when I unlocked the talent tree. I didn't even know quests could be lvl locked.

Getting field pages helps you lvl up pretty fast

I felt the need to max out my ancient magic meter and inventory before continuing the story. While maxing those out I also cleared the rest of the map. By the time I got back to it I was quite over the level requirements. Thankfully, the enemies scale to your level so I never out leveled the story content.

I liked the game well enough, but got bored around the 1st trial. Maybe bored isn't the right word necessarily, but the game was not what I expected from the Harry Potter universe. This might sound really lame, but most of my memories of the books are the moments in class, in the common rooms, curfew, quidditch and eating in the great hall. I guess I was hoping for more student life stuff vs taking week long sabbaticals in the wildness.

I'd have added a rested EXP mechanic. Get back to your common room before bedtime, get to sleep and you get a 25% bonus to your EXP which varies by how long you've had to sleep before morning. This bonus might last until sun down or dinner time. Maybe eating dinner in the great hall at your house table gives you a night time EXP bonus until bed time or midnight.

Now i just want they Remake all original harry potter school years with todays technologies... just like this amazing game . Evereone is doing remakes for all franchises and HP universe really would shine with nowdays graphics and developers like these. I would definetly buy and play

Grinding the battle arena to farm exp is not a good idea. You don’t earn exp by defeating enemies per se, but rather you earn exp by progressing in the challenges. If you finish all challenges related to a type of enemy, it stops giving exp altogether. You should diversify your activities throughout the game, such as going after field guide pages, “rescuing” beasts, breeding them, upgrading gear, etc.

Crucio is the most OP spell in the game. Once you get the talent for crucio mastery it’s becomes the single most useful spell, especially when combined with the killing curse mastery talent. Made the game wayyy too easy.

In my opinion, this is the best Harry Potter game so far. I grew up playing all of the other games. From Sorcerer's Stone to the Deathly Hallows to Lego Harry Potter. Sorcerer's Stone through Prisoner of Azkaban will always hold a nostalgic place in my heart. As will Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince for giving me that first real experience of exploring a relatively big Hogwarts map. And Lego Harry Potter is still a fun series of games that I enjoy revisiting every now and then to this very day.

Hogwarts Legacy is on a whole other level. It's a fully realized rendition of Hogwarts with so many secrets and fun interactions to find around every corner. I loved all of the new characters and Professors and it was a dream to create my own character, select my house, and play through an adventure as a Hogwarts student. The music is incredible, the combat system is unique in engaging, and I enjoyed every quest. I personally don't think there's a bad quest in this game.

Like you said, the game certainly isn't perfect. This is the first real attempt at making a Wizarding World game of this scale. For a first attempt, it's honestly amazing. But, looking at it objectively, there are still flaws to be found. While I love having the freedom to learn some dark magic and just go wizard rambo out in the wilds, it is a shame that the overall game doesn't really react to some of your choices. There are a few choices you make that ultimately matter but not many. In the future, I think they should add a proper morality system and have the choices that we make throughout the game actually effect how the story goes and how other characters react to us.

I think the game could have used more companions as well. I love Sebastian, Natty, and Poppy but I think some of the other students could have been fleshed out more and given proper relationship questlines. These questlines also should have connected with the main story as well. Outside of their quests in the main story, what you do with the others feels very disconnected from the main plot. I think finding ways to have these questlines better mesh with the main story should be another focus the next time around.

I also think some more minigames and activities should have been added in order to encourage more playability after finishing all of the main and side quests. Now I personally am still getting loads of enjoyment just exploring Hogwarts and the rest of the open world peacefully but it would have been nice for some minigames to be introduced into the world in order to keep that engagement going.

Lastly, the NPCs could definitely use some work. I want to be able to interact with them more and see them react to me casting spells at them. Let me sit at certain locations and give the Common Rooms more things to do in them rather than just being really lovely spaces within the castle. The Room of Requirement felt more like a hub within the castle than the common room.

Overall, while this game isn't perfect, I most definitely loved it. I got my very first Platinum Trophy with it and am already deep into my second playthrough. Lastly, I want to point how just how thankful I am for the developers. It was so refreshing having a development team that respected the fans, listened to the fans, and clearly cared about the IP they were working with. It makes me so happy that this game is currently selling so successfully. I want those developers to be rewarded for their work. And considering how they do listen to the fans and see what we have to say about the game, I have no doubt that they are taking notes about our criticisms with this game in order to make the next one even better. I mean, this game is on its way to making a billion dollars so there will DEFINITELY be more in the future. And I eagerly look forward to that. Until then, I'm going to keep enjoying playing around in this version of Hogwarts that they lovingly crafted for us.

Anyway, thanks for reading my essay. XD

I’d agree that it’s the best game set in the wizard world setting but yeah, it has some issues.

I was a bit dissapointed that most of the potions and herbology plants you just buy recipes/seeds for. Also you only really brew one potion, the rest are auto made, would be nice to at least brew them manually the first time in class.
Would’ve preferred it to be spaced out in potions classes because just buying them ruins the pacing and makes it feel a bit less rewarding.
Especially since money is so easy to get and so little is worth spending it on.

Spells are also given out rather unceremoniously I feel it would be better to have a bit more involved classes with the challenges after learning the spell (even if it’s just as simple as the accio challenge in the charms lessons).

Some would probably not want to ”go to school” as much but I believe most HP fans that grew up daydreaming avout going to hogwarts would love to feel more like a student.

The fellow students also feels very much like quest givers rather than friends, I don’t expect full Bioware but maybe they could’ve been fleshed out a bit more.

As for loot I feel the random loot is a bit boring, most dungeons just give a random loot piece and a lot of the time it’s just vendor trash. Spicing up the loot could be nice.

Probably a lot more but that’s what I have atm, personally didn’t run into issues with level caps since I spent a lot of time exploring and getting pages for your wizard wiki gives a lot of exp in the long run.
