Imagine you going to a random movie in a empty saloon and suddenly you realize Willem Dafoe is in the room.

Coincidentally the greatest movie experience I’ve ever had was seeing the Lighthouse in a tiny empty theater by myself. It was wonderful.

He is right. I experienced it myself. Jumping into something without putting expectations will give more surprises and better experience. Clear off any expectations before going in.
Be it going to a new place for holiday, try out a new restaurant, new recipe, read a new book, watch new movie. Putting expectations is actually comparing a reference of our past experiences.

I feel the fact that cinemas are live in the sense there no pause button really helps get you locked in the movie

Wonderful actor. I first saw him in TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. and after that I went to many of his films. I was lucky to see him doing a play in Melbourne and he gave a powerful performance because like Pacino, Dafoe is a dedicated stage actor also

One of my fave actors in terms of drama… this is great to see him speaking about movies as a whole. 🙂

My friend and I went to see Upgrade in theaters, it was full so we decided to see some random movie called Hereditary. Neither of us had seen an ad for it, we just saw on the movie poster that it had Toni Colette in it. Let me tell you, that movie shook us to the bone. When it ended, we walked out and said nothing. We were just processing what happened to us. We thought we were watching a family drama for the first 20 minutes. No expectations made Hereditary a very special experience for us.

Best times of my life. Just after I finished school, moved away and at the point where I had started adulting I started to appreciate cinema to a far greater degree. Often times I'd be the only soul in the entire cinema watching some random movie I didn't watch the trailer for and had no expectations of.

For me, i had this experience with the movie The Road, with Viggo Mortensen. Went to the mall, walked by the cinema, remembered i saw a trailer for this and it looked good. The movie shocked me to my core and affected me emotionally for a few days. Imo, one of the best movie ever made. If you have never seen it, i strongly recommend it.

I love checking my local theater’s schedule online, finding something interesting that’s playing soon, and going straight there and watching. From having the idea to sitting in the cinema, maybe 30 minutes.

The VVITCH is intensely unsettling, but so good. The voice of the devil is savory as delightful as butter, the acting is superb, and the storyline is haunting. The very last scene with the witches is one I will never forget. It was whimsical, freeing, and terrifying.

I had this exact experience with Bicentennial Man...had absolutely NO idea what it was about or who was even in it, and I loved it! Definitely the best way to experience some movies.

Thats why I miss the video store. I used to pick moveis as a kid solely on the covers and puctures on the back. Had alot of great animatronics and claymation.

This is the exact reason I will see drop by the flea market or the equivalent of Goodwill in my country. You glance the DVD section and you actually get to discover a movie that catches your eye. And you never if it's going to be good or bad, so you got no expectation when you watch it later. It's really the best I think
