NY have the worst plate design and quality. Time to change now.

Happened in Ontario, Canada before, our government just decided to switch supplier right after the problems happened and switched back after the problem solved.

My plates never peeled for some reason and I'm grateful for that.

If a measly 5% are peeling that's 100k for 2million plates.

I got my plates in 2013 and they’ve been starting to peel since about a year ago and they’re really bad now (at least nothings actually fallen off of them yet lol). They are also some of the newest plates I’ve seen thatve been peeling, I’ve mostly only seen E and F series ones peeling, but mine are G series.

I live in Pennsylvania and I see a ton of peeling plates every day so the problem isn't just New York. My plates are from 2004 and are fine as are my daughter's from 2014.

California is having the same problem. I wonder if it's the same company that both states used.

I don't believe other states are having an issue this big!
Makes you wonder what is wrong with NY's process compared to other states!
Is it the process or something else?

The current New York license plates are lame designs, the ones back in the day used to be of proper design. Cheep Shrink-wrap instead of paint, blatant waste 💸 of New Yorkers 🗽 taxpayer dollars!

Propane torch to back of plate, plate peels, no more camera tickets, no more Easy Pass fees. So what is the question?

no doubt some plates peel. but when an operator sees it happening they should return without charge and have same plate no. printed and sent via mail. alot of people don't even care because if stopped they claim it aint my fault. and can avoid tolls until they must change plate.

It's easy enough to use a magic marker or paint to go over the exposed metal, though, odds are, you'd have to apply such multiple times over the life of the car, if not the plate. So, it's either an issue with the paint, materials, or laminate, and, since this didn't happen in earlier years, it's pretty clear that it's either the supplier's fault or an issue on the production line. FWIW, my 2013's plate is beginning to peel, and I've taken steps to prevent our two 2018's from doing so, though, I won't know how successful I am, since there's no way to prove that it worked. And it's sheer gall that NYS charges $20 to replace the plates. If a cop pulls me over because of it, I'm going to say, "Hey, it's not my fault. Sue NY." And if the judge turns me down, then *I* will sue NYS!
