I like that he doesn’t bend his knee and say he’ll defend the empress. He is well meaning and good but has self worth to a degree higher than his respect for royalty. Asked if he’d defend the empress he agrees to, not to defend the empress of our world, but to protect his friend; He asserts himself as not a subordinate of the royal family, keeping his self worth equal to theirs, but he would sacrifice for them becuase he cares do the well being of his friends. It’s genius writing

I'm so glad so many of Johnny's interactions are references. Johnny was a action star but all of his references were just silly lines. In MK1 he feels like an action star who actually grew up watching old action movies and listening old music

I genuinely love how everyone is friends with eachother (except for Zub-Zero, Havik, and Shang Tsung). I loved the rivalries in Mortal Kombat, but there's just something that feels amazing seeing everyone actually be humble and share compliments.
