2015 Mustang GT Owner Review (After 2 Years - Worth It?)

I review my 2015 Mustang GT Performance Package which I bought new in 2015. Full interior, exterior, start up, exhaust and road test.

⬇️Jake’s Top Recommended List:

"Mustang fever" started early 2015 with all the new press release for the all new redesigned chasis. July 2015 I was on a mission to purchase an automatic Mustang GT and the idea was to use it as my work vehicle since the 2014 Fiesta ST I was using was awesome but in reality I wanted the big bad 5.0 again!

The new Mustang is such a sports car these days compared to the 86' GT that I previously owned. It literally has twice the power, a great sound system, its comfortable, it looks awesome, sounds awesome and gets decent gas mileage for a full size coupe with a V8.

Now, it doesn't slide around quite as well as the old Mustangs because the new mustang has an IRS standard now on all 2015 and up Mustangs finally. This allows for better rear end stability especially over bumps mid corner and exiting corners.

I will admit that the coyote doesn't quite have the relative torque that the old 5.0 engines had, see the new coyote is a high revving V8 that has a nice linear power band. The old 5.0 was like a truck motor, instant neck snapping torque(ok it seemed like it was neck snapping at 16 years old) but after 5000 rpms it died off. The new coyote engines are just making peak torque around 4000 rpms and peak horsepower around 6500 rpms. Also the 2015 Mustang is softer riding, more insulated to noise and a little heavier than previous models. So you add all this together and you get a more subtle mustang, a much faster mustang but it is so smooth that you don't always realize how fast you are going. The power swells up instead of instantaneous torque smacking you in the face like a pushrod motor, so you never really feel like its a muscle car.

Regardless of how different the new mustang is compared to the old generations, its better in every way possible. The new engine will hold 700-800 horsepower with just adding a supercharger. Its basically built Ford tough, you might want to change the axles if you are going to drag race this vehicle, also don't power shift that manual transmission with all that power unless you are on street tire. The automatic transmission is the best bet if you are after fast drag times or commute in a traffic packed city like me.

The mustang on the other had was the opposite, heavier steering, the shifter was clunky and heavy to move around. The new mustang has a gigantic hood to look over and to see the passenger side mirror you have to look all the way across the vehicle, I can't see the blind spot indicators from my peripheral vision.

Also, to be honest the torque wasn't impressive. The 2014 Fiesta ST that I was current'y driving had the feeling of more torque when driving it around the city because of the torque differential, meaning that the torque curve went from zero to full send in one second where as the linear power band of the mustang went from zero to increasingly faster as the engine revved up. I was not used to this and I actually wasn't impressed the first time I test drove one at Marina Ford.

Fast forward a few months and I still couldn't get the idea out of my head, I just had to have one! So I got one.

Exterior
The exterior of the 2015 Mustang GT is a true work of art, I honestly think it is one of the best looking modern designs for a Mustang in recent years but I'm also biased. The rear looks amazing, the roof lines and overall appearance is so elegant and sexy with a twist of modern sports car design. The exterior does not have any Ford designation except for FORD written on the glass on the front windshield.

Interior
Depending on which model you get the interior will change its look, the performance package has the best looking interior because of the two functional oil pressure and vacuum boost gauges matched with an "engine turned" dash design that looks like a carbon fiber pattern.

Performance
The 2015 Mustang GT performance package is about two seconds faster around a two minute road course than a 2012-13 Mustang Boss 302. So even though it has less power and more weight than the precious boss mustang it is actually faster around a road course due to its new suspension, wheels and tire setup.

18 with my own '15 EcoBoost. Would've got a GT, but I live 60 miles from my work lol. Hoping to be moving up to a GT350 or GT500 next

Enjoyed your comments. You're right about the value and what you get for the money, what today's Mustangs are. I'm just glad we can still find manual transmissions to make the drive more fun! (2013 GT 5.0 6-speed)

I don’t know how you’ve managed to keep it mostly stock for so long!

Good content Jake. Really like the videos and the way they are thought out. The 15-17 cars are a great value and very well put together. Our 15 Vert was purchased in January 2015 and has been a blast. It is actually our company car and my wife's daily driver. I drive the car quite a bit for running errands at work and trips to the store on weekend and evenings. The car has grown on me so much I actually take it to some of the local meets here instead of my GT500. A person could take a 15-17 GT and for about $10-12K, supercharger, coilovers and handling kit, wheels and tires and have a world class performance car that would be outdone only by cars in the 100K plus range.

Thank you for the video! My brother has a 2015 Mustang GT and I got to drive it for a few days...I was blown away of the power and how much fun the car was to drive. I felt like Steve McQueen for a day...I just loved it. Might have to buy me one myself.
