Hard reset Laptop battery

This video is about how to reset laptop battery cycle count an solve the "plugged in not charging" problem in windows.

Often people are faced with the windows problem of "plugged in not charging" where the battery cannot be charged even though it is plugged in.
There are some software fixes like uninstalling the "microsoft complaint control method battery" driver in device manager and then reinstalling it by clicking 'scan for hardware changes'. But this method is not always successful.
The smart battery of a laptop has a circuit chip that keeps a cycle count ( number of times the battery has been recharged).
Some manufacturers design their battery in such a way that it cannot be charged beyond a certain number of cycles, say 600 cycles (600 times). This is just for business as you have to buy a new battery although your battery is otherwise fine.

In this video I will show how to reset the cycle count of a smart battery by reseting the circuit chip inside the smart battery.

Great idea for good condition battery. Thanks for the guidance and appreciate your knowledge. I was able to do the same with my Lenovo X61 laptop battery (checked and condition was good) as you mentioned the IC name for short-circuiting and could locate it in the circuit board. After the work, the laptop started charging. Great guidance helped in saving money.

Wow, that’s a totally different approach to solving the plugged in not charging problem by hard reset the battery, and it worked for me !! Good job man..thanks

That component looks like a thermistor or just a resistor. If anything you need to somehow reset the memory IC chip. I tried this just for the heck of it with four different batteries that had 95% power and it didn't work.

Wow great method I will try this. Recently I replaced all lithium cells but it's not changing my laptop model is Asus X552ca

It had been interesting to see the laptop starting without the charger connected to see how the battery pack was again powering it...but it is a useful video.

Awesome technique! But how do you mean by shortening the led out? By just scratching the led with the flat screw driver?

Used your method and my battery was recovered. Thanks a lot bro.

If you don’t want to tamper with the battery’s electronic panel, you can do the same with Ms Project 2007 Demo. Just by making simple projects directly during charging, plugging it in more times, and repeating the whole process. So, if charging starts at 14%, jumping to 100% immediately, the software demo will reset the battery to charge normally. This way you don’t have to manipulate the battery, most people don’t want to.

It sounds a bit unlikely that shorting all soldering points that are close together in pairs fixes a battery pack

This is bollocks. He shorted out the temperature sensor. The green device with R005 on it is just a resistor used as a current shunt.

So as I see you shorted the temperature sensor terminals. Is that what you are doing on the video?

Nice try wise guy...why didn't you keep the clip rolling? You switched the battery, cut the clip and boom!next battery...

Hasn't worked for me yet, with a dell 8858x battery. Might be a different problem as it says doesn't recognise dell battery and refuses to charge it. I only need 10% so I can run the bios update /forceit not helping. :)

Is it ROO5 in all laptop batteries. If different then what it is it in dell batteries?
