Procedure worked great on Wiser smartkey lock purchased in late 2024. When inserting the new key for the first time, make sure it is fully inserted (seated) BEFORE turning it. Improperly seated new keys are the reason why so many people seem to have problems with re-keying these locks.

2 things about this lock... 1 if you don't hold the tool in place when you pull the key out, many times it will drop the last tumbler and it won't reset. Then your key won't work. 2. These locks are so pathetically weak that you can take a flat blade screwdriver, wedge it into the key way and with a pair of pliers attached to the screwdriver you can force the cylinder to turn rather easily. It's the design of the tumblers. Weak. No security.
