As someone with genetic-based depression on both sides of my family, I’m tired of directors constantly depicting depression as “sadness”. While that is some people’s experience, it’s not every experience. I’m typically numb emotionally. To me depression has more to do with a lack of mental energy than mood and I wish this was more accurately depicted.

the premise of "aftersun" really reminds me of the brian david gilbert short "teaching jake to use the camcorder" in that it involves fatherhood and the degradation of memory as viewed through analog recordings.

Honestly I'm so excited for the Daniel Radcliffe and Weird Al Yancovic one because they were both people who were a massive parts of internet communities I participated in when I was younger.
