I like the subtlety of the romantic chemistry between them. You can tell there’s a connection there when they first meet, a camaraderie of sorts, and then it kind of turns into a subtle awe and admiration when she reveals her true identity. It’s based on respect and camaraderie more than anything else which I like

Honghui from beginning and until the end of the movie is a good man and really respect Mulan as the way she is and started to like her when know she is woman. They are so adorable together. Really want to see them more. At least the scene they can matched together 😭

There’s smtg very special in his expression in the bridge scene. He realises everything (relationship/feelings) even if it’s obviously still blurry to him.
He probably feel the urge of doing smtg before she leaves, he seems to don’t even know what.
Anyway it’s a powerful expression to me, it’s the beginning of “them”
He obviously appreciated her before, but now he realises he “likes” her
On that, they are a much more powerful couple than Li Shang and Mulan
Because they have a story, an evolution, they still grow 💕 that’s powerful and beautiful

Ahhh finally watched Mulan because I was like screw the controversy and mixed reviews. I wanted to watch it with an unbiased mindset and I’m pleasantly surprised. They still had little call backs to the animated version of Mulan, but this movie is completely it’s OWN THING. Plus, the director wanted to make it more accurate historically and culturally. Plus, Mulan had written and told multiple ways..there is so many versions where Mulan had a lot of siblings or where there was indeed magic/fantasy lore in these stories/fables. So Disney mixed some of the stories concepts and used it for THIS MOVIE. I think it works and I like the fact that on both sides were strong women, the witch and Mulan.

But my favorite part were the bonding that Mulan had with the soldiers, especially with Honghui. Ughh their moments together from the beginning to end were wonderful and the chemistry is just 🔥🔥🔥

Even if the movie didn’t focus too much on the romance aspect, WE FELT THE CONNECTION. The way they stared at each other or the way he smiles at Mulan. The way he respected, admired, and supported even after she revealed that she is a woman. Just like others, I think Honghui knew that Mulan’s true identity because he did catch her binding her chest. He started being a bit flirty-teasing Mulan after he caught her. He wasn’t even surprised when she did reveal herself as a woman anyways and then again stood up for her when she warned them about Bori Khan. So we love a progressive, attractive, and beautiful smile Honghui. There is talks for a sequel of the live action, so hopefully we get more Mulan and Honghui development. ☺️

The ship on this one is just.. idk. but they didn’t keep the gosh darn ending of the original one. I was shipping so hard watching the movie. 😂

_I do not ship, I prefer it a thousand times with Li Shang, they have a lot of chemistry... I must admit that it was a big mistake for Disney not to have included Li Shang in this film. I was so confused when I heard that this live action would not be literally similar to the cartoon..._ 😶💔
