Terrence Malick - The Works

No one makes films quite like Terrence Malick. Although he has only made five films in the past four decades, he deserves to be labeled as an iconic American filmmaker. All of his works share the stunning visuals, powerful themes and dramatic realism required to make a masterful piece of film. Some label Malick's films as pretentious but I see them as the unique expressions of a true artist. With this tribute, I really wanted to display Malick's artistic talent and why his films are truly unique and special.

As for my next tribute, it will be a while before it is released since I will be so busy over the coming months.

However I will still leave you with a clue: Droog

some movies will haunt me for the rest of my life and the thin red line is one of them. I don't know what it is about it, but it's just sheer beauty, it's the most beautiful movie I've ever seen.. how the sountrack merges so perfectly with the imagery... it's so amazing

Very nicely put together, it made me think what a great collection of images Terrence Malik have given us over the years.

The Greatest Director in the History of the Cinema. His films never fail. I'm still one of a few who thinks To the Wonder was another masterpiece to Malick's Pantheon.

Hey, man, thank you for this. On many a sad day I've found myself trailing off to youtube for specifically this video. You capture the magic of the man. I love that roaring shot of Badlands at the very end; you feel the freedom and expanse and pure energy. Riding off into eternity!

This is really well put together. Tree of Life I think is his masterpiece.

Malick allows the mystery to remain a mystery. Within, we find the meaning of living.

I saw the film at TIFF back in September and I left it underwhelmed (for similar reasons). I'm thinking about possibly giving it a rewatch.
