USB C to DC barrel jacks...with USB PD voltage selection!

We got a few samples of these very nifty USB C cables - there's a Type C plug on one end and a DC 2.5mm/2.1mm on the other. On the plug is etched a voltage and current range. inside is a USB C PD chip that negotiates to try and get the selected voltage and current out of a USB C power plug with Power Delivery management, and it works! we got 9V, 12V, 15V and 20V cables and tested it with our 3A test load and the cables had almost no drop. these could be super handy for getting significant power from USB C without having to do the noodling of programming or configuring a PD chip. coming soon to the adafruit shop!

Nice, this could be used to create a USB-C to MagSafe 1 or 2 cable. With this a macbook could be charged with a regular PD Powerbank

Any plans to make a similar cable with a 5.5mm barrel jack?

If I can get 20v 9A, or even 19v from 20v, that'll kill a lot of laptop power supplies. I wonder what's the max spec for USB PD

Amazing! Great solution - I’ve been wanting this for ages!

Question… of that PD voltage is unavailable, does it have no output?

Hi if this cables barrel Jack was plugged into a 12v power source (off grid system) would the usb c end be able to power a 12v usb appliance?

9 volt would be nice for use on a Sega game gear so you don't have to use AAA anymore.

Can this go up to 100 watts? Is it more of a limitation of the chip on the usbc side? And if so, what componenet would I need to replace to get it to go as high as thunderbolt's wattage for say powering laptops that have only barrel jack in?
