Great topic, so much is talked about recovery points but this is the first time in a long time the chassis is a point of interest. A friends 4runner had significant chassis damage due to recovery’s. Love the channel Matt

It's good to see someone say it! It is only rated if its been tested ounce it is bolted into location which no-one can do unless they want to wreck their chassis.

G`day Mat, just on those reinforced holes you where pointing to, (bottom of Bar), back, when I had a New ARB bullbar fitted to my 80 series, they pointed out to me, these were not for shackles or recovery!, They were to Bolt High lift Jack "Bracket" to, ( High Lift ARB bracket / mount, -Yes bought separably) Bracket bolted to Bar, (those holes) Jack Arm sat inside Bracket, Just like Tow ball tongue sits in a Tow bar. Jack safely coupled to Bar when lifting vehicle. thanks for the Topic. regards

Awesome, most people get ripped off by the "rated limit" spiel and end up with a set of ground clearance destroying RoadSafe items..

Im trying to find rated points for my 2012 hilux. I can't find anything. It has 2 factory transport lugs on each side, that are in the way. I don't want to spend $1700 on a whole bar just to drive on the beach.

Rhey tell mw there is no commercial bracket sold. Next stop is a steel fabricator to design something.

Hey matt, I don't mean to be a smartass, but the depth of material between hole and the outside of your recover point looks a bit small. In my opinion it could easily tear out, or at the very least start deforming (ie flog out) and then eventually crack and tear. Just my 2 cents worth. I would beef it up if you can. Nice video otherwise, as always.

was going to pull a kid out once and he thought a good recovery point was the rear out side leaf spring I didn't pull him out I told him to call a tow truck I wasn't going to be apart of that one.

What agency is responsible for "Ratings"? NONE!
Rated is 🐂💩
Send me your recovery points and I'll rate them for ya...😂🙄

Not much point having 13mm steel if you've drilled the holes for the shackles <13mm from the edge. Judging by the size of the hole, that recovery point is weaker than the shackle, so when it fails the shackle will go flying on the end of an elastic snatch strap.
