Warriors Ball Movement - 15/16

The Golden State Warriors hold the greatest regular season record in NBA history at 73-9. Having won the NBA Finals the season prior, the began at home, with a ring ceremony. They would go on to reel off 24 straight wins (the best start in NBA history) before losing their first game. They broke A LOT of records, but likely the most telling numbers (on the offensive end, at least) were that they had the highest offensive efficiency rating in the league (112.5, with OKC finishing at 109.9), and lead the league with 28.9 team assists per game.

Andrew Bogut talked about how Kerr’s first training camp had the Warriors doing the most basic passing drills you could imagine. A fundamentally sound base for a team turned the ball over too much was exactly what was needed. It was the next step in their evolution. Consider that most of these plays are passes hitting guys in the chest, going from good to great in terms of shot quality, and reading the defense properly. Sometimes, the Dubs try to force a pass, and waste possession, but considering that they were just barely (1.95 vs SA’s 1.96) second to the Spurs in terms of assist to turnover ratio as an entire team, I’d say they convert more than they don’t.

The Warriors culture and philosophy is laid out for the entire world to see: “STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.” Through Steve Kerr’s entire coaching career thus far, the Warriors are an absurd 140-24*, and they’re doing it, very much, using their strength in numbers.

*Off the top of my head, that’s second to only the Bulls 141-23 record from the 95-96, 96-97 seasons as the all-time greatest consecutive seasons win total.

They're versatility, defence, shooting ability, bench scoring and the pace they play at is simply unmatched by any other team in the history of the league.

That's what Steve Kerr always say if you don't move the ball we lose, if you move the ball we win keep moving the ball ..

This game could continue for another 100 years and I still don’t think you will ever see a group of stars play as unselfishly as these Warriors did. It was a treat to watch every night!

This is how basketball is meant to be played, if you go back and watch the great teams of the 80s and 90s you would see this same flow and rhythm just in a different era. That’s what the box scores won’t tell you about those teams and all the athleticism in the world won’t beat.

This was more entertaining than the Durant era, even though they didn't win the chip. They were unselfish and played together without any egos.

This was what made the Warriors great, they moved the ball unselfishly all game long. And they happened to have two of the greatest shooters of all time. The ball movement and chemistry was what was scary. They didn’t need KD. They were terrifying as they were.

Kerr took the equal opportunity offense of the Triangle and turned it into freestyle. Players always moving without the ball and if you didn’t have a good shot, just immediately pass and move. It was something to behold.

They have guys who play right way if the defender cuts off their dribble they get off the ball and play basketball they play through high post splits the cuts back door cuts extra passes the passes on time and on target passes get shooters shooting pocket and drive kick to get open shots really elite team I miss this type of offense 💯‼️

I still don't get why people hated on this warriors team. They play beautiful basketball, played with heart and energy. I wish Curry would win at least one more championship, it's sad how injury was the main reason the Warriors dynasty ended.
