I have a 2200 it saved me BIGTIME 2 xmas ago. We had a MAJOR power outage on my street where a couple of poles snapped and took the lines down for 3 days 2 nights... We never loose power long here where I am and folks were freezing it was COLD like single digits... And my 2200i Ran my pelt stove and my refridgeorator for 3 days straight keeping my food and keeping my house without busted pipes like lots of folks around me. Xmas dinner was Ham i cooked in a Dutch oven on my deck lol.... Put down some baking pans and some cement blocks lol... Worked amazing!!

Similar shop experience. It wasn’t a spark arrestor. A friend of mine had a little Toro snow thrower that was leaking gas. She called the shop where she bought it. Over the phone, the rep said it needed a new carburetor. I checked it and gave the float bowl nut a little turn. Leak stopped. It’s criminal how some shops take advantage of unsuspecting, innocent people. Glad you’re in the game.

One comment on a James Condon vid on the full teardown of one of these units stated that he ran one in Alaska at his cabin running 24/7 for 17k hours..
stopping only for oil changes and fuel top offs.

He then replaced the wet timing belt to the OHC and ran it another 17k hours before giving it to a friend to continue running it until the belt finally broke...and we haven't heard if it has!

That is how good these generators are.

I've got one of those, " it's not worth fixing but I can get rid of it for you" shops right down the road from me it's taken some years but his reputation had caught up with him. I've fixed many " unrepairable" machines usually just needs everything he did reversed and then the simple fix it needed in the first place.

Once you pointed out the spark arrestor was clogged I thought you were going to soak it in gasoline for a little while before brushing it and using an air gun. I wasn't expecting the blow torch though it made a lot of sense when you showed it being put to use. This is why I'm subscribed.

I had a catalytic converter clog on a gran prix. The mechanic heard the clog through the breather. Great diagnosis! Thanks for sharing!!

Other shop said it was "junk" because they wanted to score it for cheap from the customer.
As in : "It's total junk, but I'll take it off your hands for parts for $50 buddy!"

Thanks Taryl. I 'do' have one of those generators sitting out in my shop. I think this video is the fix for it! I run my cabin(where I live) on a 2, 000 watt generator. Gotta big one for the big jobs like power tools, welder and the washing machine.
