Thanks for the video! My husband bought a fuel pump to replace ours and he had already thrown away the old one. The new one came in today while he was at work, and I wanted to get it running and get the grass mowed before he got home. It seemed pretty self explanatory to put the new one on, but I guess he had also taken out the vacuum line and I didn't know what was supposed to go there. After a quick YouTube search, I came across this, and I ended up cutting some random fuel line like you did. Worked great! Very informative video

Dude, you totally just saved me a service call. Watched five other videos before yours to no avail. I had the same trouble as you, but the hose on mine wasn't busted, the seal was just gummed up with grass gunk. Literally dug it out with my finger and mower started immediately and is running better than it has in five years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

The hose replaced in this video is not a breather or vent hose. It is an impulse line which delivers alternating pressure and vacuum from the crankcase to the fuel pump’s diaphragm, which in turn provides alternating pressure and suction via check valves to transfer fuel from the tank to the carb. Any flaw in the line or its seal on either end will allow atmospheric pressure to enter, defeating the ability of the fuel pump to function.

Thanks! I have the same exact mower. I changed the spark plugs, air filter, battery, cleaned the carb, put all new gas. Runs a lot better but there was still some weakness. This just might be what the hangup is.

Thank you very much for the video. Knew it was a gas delivery problem but didn't know where to start. checked both gas lines like you said. There was a clog in one of them, but still wouldn't turn over. Didn't have a new air filter on hand so just shook it out. Started right away and now purrs like a kitten.

You’re awesome man. That was literally my problem. Exact same issue. I was going to take it somewhere to get it fixed but then I saw this video and fixed my mower in 5 minutes. Great job

Don't know yet if that's my problem, but the info you provided was well worth while. Thanks

Really good step by step on figuring out what was wrong with it. I would, however, caution folks on using any tool that could make sparks next to open gas. Many drills make "sparks" on the inside of the tool, which could present a fire/explosion hazard. Safety first. :)

Thanks for the video. I had no idea was the tube was for but saw it had vibrated loose on mine and the motor stalled out three times in 6 minutes. My lawn is like a mogul run so the mower gets a good shake now and again. Running like a champ again thanks to your vid.

Great video on determining exactly what the fuel delivery problem was by process of elimination. A really simple way to confirm it’s fuel-related is to remove the air filter, spray a volatile into the intake and crank the engine. If it starts right up then it’s obvious fuel delivery is the issue.

you da man...most other videos i have came across are like

2. do you have clutch in
3. are you sitting on seat
4. is mower blade engaged

Had same problem on Craftsman/Husqvarna. BUT it would run for a while...or not start at all yet gas went into the new see thru filter. THE problem THE GAS CAP VENT!!! The rubber seal inside the cap was miss molded and the small hole that allowed air into the tank would not open. THUS vacuum in the gas tank. Cut a small hole in the vent ....RUNS GREAT and starts all the time.

Thanks for your video. After first troubleshooting I assume my fuel pump was bad, so I replaced it only to have the same problem of no fuel delivery. When it was all said and done, my problem was the fuel line to the tank. Could hardly blow through it for it had deteriorated inside. Replaced it and run strong again.
