ISOGG Ireland Update 2016 (Gerard Corcoran)
Показать описание
FamilyTreeDNA sponsored this years 4th Annual Genetic Genealogy Ireland Conference. ISOGG volunteers organised the DNA Lectures and interfaced with the Irish audience to answer questions and swab customers at the FTDNA stand. A big thank you to everyone involved!
In this opening presentation, following an introduction by conference organiser Maurice Gleeson, Gerard Corcoran recaps on the wonderful year we have had in Irish Genealogy - a year that has seen the publication of the first of many papers on Ancient Irish DNA from both the Neolithic and Bronze Age, several seminal publications on human migrations across Europe to Ireland (including a hybrid model of Info-European expansion), the third volume of "Celtic from the West", an explosion of additional Irish branches on the Human Evolutionary Tree, the exciting preliminary results from the Irish DNA Atlas Project, a ground-breaking documentary on the Irish Travellers & their DNA profile, the launch of a new UK & Irish company - LivingDNA - which is offering all 3 main tests in one package and has a focus on the people of the Hibernian Peninsula, the opening of EPIC Ireland (which wants to include a genetic genealogy section), the new GPO Witness History Visitor Centre, and so much more. The future looks bright for Genetic Genealogy Ireland.
