Ram Pump Two Valves vs One Valve

Normal Ram Pumps have 1 waste valve. In this video I test out using a normal ram pump vs a pump with 2 waste valves.

Interesting results! I started playing with ram pumps last year. I built a 1" version. One thing I'm wanting to experiment this year is essentially two ram pumps from two different sources sharing one pressure chamber & delivery pipe.

I have a spot where two streams converge & thought I could build a couple dams, of sorts, to use as my water sources, then try to pump water up to a storage tank which would feed cattle waterers.

I find this very interesting, thanks for sharing! Great video

Very interesting results! I'd be curious to see if valve spacing has an effect (between the two waste valves)... like maybe start with a calc for the speed of sound in a PVC medium and figure the distance for a co-phased array. (Am I making sense here?) but either way, this test provided MUCH more gain than i expected. I'd also be curious to see if the effect is dampened at double or triple the deliver height. Great test Seth!

Now that I have come to watch this video again I have come up with the theory that increasing the number of waste valves is pretty much similar to increasing the size of the waste valve and increasing the size of the waste valve is inevitably going to require a much bigger drive pipe to run the pump..So if you keep your promise of making the 4 waste valve video you will require at least a 2 inch drive pipe.. Basically additional waste valves make the pump bigger..And a bigger pump will increase the pressure created hence the increase in delivery rate and potential delivery height

Supper cool thank you, do you think it has a valid use or just upgrade size pump and or a larger pressure vessel?

Since its coming on the top of the tree. Imagine if you put it on the ground.

Top hose: **drip** **drip**

Bottom hose: **ssssk**

Try adding a small extension above one of the relief valves.

More waste valve, more velocity in pomp body and more pressure build as well. Surely the delivery pressure and volume of water will increase.

What happen when waste valve position move to the end of ram pump, will they pump more water ?

I made a1" ram pump, initialy i try only a single waste valve but cannot lift to the place tha I want to. I decided to add another Two waste valve ang got a satisfying result Because of high volume and pressure to drive the pump again i install additiona 3/4" waste valve and I got an excellent result, good volume and lift deliver to my desired height.

awesome... now what happens if you double the other valve? (not the waste valve)

i removed the two trees that were shading my spring head reservoir and now it is growing algae and clogging my intake :( so i have to create a new shade for it.

I'm just curious, how about if instead of using 2 waste valves, install that extra valve at the feed pipe. This way, all the water hammer pressure will be forced into the pressure vessel instead of some going back to the feed pipe. I don't know. Just a thought...

What about using a single larger valve. Don't forget to increase the size of the 'T' if you do.

Seems like the increase in total flow reduced the head height so I assume it would continue as such. For each additional valve the volume would be greater but it would be less and less able to raise the water????

its like a big single vs compound turbos! on a diesel

can you try two valve but with each dedicated separate delivery line? See if it will give you more pressure.

I'm sorry, I'm new to this. If I had two valves rather than 1 could I make a bigger pump? Such as having a 4 inch inlet with two, 2 inch valves. Would this work to pump the same volume as 1, 4 inch valve? Further more can the inlet of a pump be the same as the outlet? Thank you for your time.

YOUR PUMPING EXAMPLE IS VERY ILLUSTRATIVE AND I HAVE A QUESTION WHAT IS YOUR EMAIL BECAUSE I HAVE A MODEL OF RAMP PUMP (S1 DTU OF WARWICK UNIVERSITY) BUT I WANT TO ADD ANOTHER VALVES IF IS POSSIBLE THREE VALVES I AM FROM PERU

Does any of your product can pump up to 60+ foots straight up/vertical line (from water source to destination), bcz i got a plantation up the hill and the gas cost....a lot
