Hurricane Size Comparison

In this 1st episode, we compare the sizes and power of hurricanes, tornadoes, typhoons & cyclones, from a tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane such as Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Andrew & Hurricane Katrina, and even go beyond what you'd expect!

Please take note: The size indicated here is the maximum diameter based on Meteorologist calculations (Sourced from National Hurricane Center, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration & NASA, or own mapping estimates based on images if no official figures are given. It is not entirely accurate, but it gives a good scale of the sizes of certain tropical storms.

Ps: The hurricanes are supposed to rotate counter clockwise instead of clockwise while cyclones are rotated in the correct direction. It is our hindsight.

Never heard of Saturn's storm before. That's crazy.

Here's some facts about hurricanes - tropical cyclones that form in the Atlantic:

• Categories go off of wind speeds
• The list of names they're given are renewed every 6 years
• If a storm was devasting and cost a lot of damage and/or casualties, the names are retired (for example, we'll never see another Hurricane Katrina again)
• The names are given to a storm when they become a tropical storm, and they go in alphabetical order (for example, Harvey, Irma, Jose, Katia, Lee, Maria)
• The storms go in ranking of (due to wind speeds and air pressure):
*- tropical wave*
*- tropical depression* (with wind speeds of 38mph _or_ 62km/h and below)
*- tropical storm* (this is when they get names) (with wind speeds of 39-73mph _or_ 63-118km/h)
*- category 1 hurricane* (with wind speeds of 74-95mph _or_ 119-153km/h)
*- category 2 hurricane* (with wind speeds of 96-110mph _or_ 154-177km/h)
*- category 3 hurricane* (with wind speeds of 111-129mph _or_ 178-208km/h)
*- category 4 hurricane* (with wind speeds of 130-156mph _or_ 209-251km/h)
*- category 5 hurricane* (with wind speeds of 157mph _or_ 252km/h and above)
