New Free Online Security Tool To Protect Your Family Online

Cloudflare has released a new public DNS server 1.1.1.2, which is a malware protection platform. When a device on your home network tries to reach a site that is known for malware or known to be malicious, this DNS server, will not return a valid address.

This prevents your devices from accessing these sites. This is particularly useful if there’s someone in your home that likes to click on links in emails, without thinking about it.

The second DNS service is 1.1.1.3, and filters malware as well as adult content. This is exactly the same as the anti-malware service, but it also blocks DNS lookups for adult sites.

This is particularly useful in the family home, especially where there are kids.

It’s as simple as changing your DNS server in your network settings. This could be manually changing it on each device, changing settings on your home router, or changing your DHCP options.

Surprisingly enough, 1.1.1.1 seems to be faster than many other DNSs too. Not that the extra few ms makes a huge difference.
