If scalpers buy all the PS5 pros then Sony still wins. No one will buy from the scalpers and Sony will just restock the console. Scalpers are just shooting themselves in the foot by buying up a console that at its base price is already too expensive for people.

Everyone should hold their ground and not but from eBay. The scalpers need to know we've had enough, and Sony needs to know they are better off selling to actual customers who buy games. They won't see new game sales on these units for awhile. I'm hoping Nintendo offers Switch 2 through the e shop first for actual paying customers. Otherwise it'll be 2027 before I think about getting one of those. Or even better, actually have a decent amount of units available to offset would be scalpers.

This is what Sony wanted and knew what was going to happen. Release this new console and scalpers are surely going to swoop in and buy them all up. A guaranteed way of getting sales.

The PS5 Pro was available for a few hours yesterday. The 30th anniversary pro model sold out in about 5ish minutes if you managed to get in. They started a queue for the line at some random time in the morning. Then at 10 you were added randomly to a line to access the site regardless of queue status. The 30th digital version sold out in about 50 minutes. Best Buy also had pre orders for the digital version on their site.

Overall, Sony knew they were getting sales because of scalpers. The only anniversary celebration is for them because they made it clear it’s not for the fans that have got them there.

I didn’t get that PS5 Pro bundle like I wanted, but I got the 30th Anniversary DualSense from Best Buy since the PlayStation Direct site bullied me out of my time. All in all, I’d say I won yesterday.

I think people don't understand how huge those 20 million sales are, they were achieved in over a month after release and to put it into context Elden Ring sold 23 million copies... 2 years after release.

Scalping of consoles could be fixed easily, if the avenues that they used to sell such consoles was shut down limiting their market. Why is event ticket scalping banned on places like ebay or fb market place, yet hardware such as games consoles as graphics cards is allowed to carry on?
