That’s a great way to let people appreciate how valuable maple syrup and sugar is!
We don’t appreciate how much work goes into everything we enjoy.

So, if you're wondering why maple syrup costs so much....

I used to live in a town where once a year the whole town would collect their tree sap and boil it all day. In the evening time we would walk around town and sample everyones syrup. Each stop would have something for you to eat it with. It was a really cool way to know your community and enjoy natures treats.

2 gallons to half a cup? Never ceases to amaze how much it takes to harvest maple syrup. Totally worth it though!

I did 40 gallons of sap, for just under one gallon of syrup. (I like it a little thicker)
This took 10 hours, with a 15 gallon evaporator.
Excellent syrup!

*Damn, I thought maple syrup just came out of the tree brown and gooey.*

Surface area is your friend when you’re boiling sap. Shallow wide pans boil off faster than a simple stockpot.

A few years ago, I traveled the New England area as a tourist from Europe. When I was in Vermont, I saw that there was a farm that made maple syrup and their website said that you could basically just come over and take a look. They had a cute little shop and showed us around their facilities, explaining the process in an easy to understand way. They were such lovely people and your video brings back some wonderful memories. What a trip. Thanks! And thanks Robb Family farm❤

Thats why pure maple syrup is so expensive. Beautiful. Once in quebec ee went for dinner at a maple shack. Huge dinner smothered in maple syrup. The tables pushed to the wall & lights dimmed for dancing the night away. Authenticcally wonderful experience.

It's so nice to see someone showing this. I had family who ran a "Sugar Shack, " for making Maple Syrup and candies, and I went out tree tapping with them often, and spent a pretty decent amount of time in the "Shack, " with stuff processing so I *know* why *real* Maple Syrup is valuable and has even been referred to as "liquid gold" before. Glad other people have a visceral example, now.
