Even if you don't add the aluminium foil, it still shines, simply because hot water CLEANSES!

Stainless steel does not need to be polished. Just wash and detergent and let it dry. If it's spots you can wipe off the spots. Only polish sterling or silver plate with approved polishing formulations

Aluminum foil is toxic enough without boiling it. Never do this. Throw out your foil. There are other ways to do things.

DO NOT DO THIS ON STERLING OR SILVER PLATE. IT WILL RUIN IT

As a young man I was a waiter on the cruise ship and we used a lot of silver cutlery salt, pepper shakers, butter coolers and more. It had to be clean at all times and there was no time to clean everything individually by hand. So we use this method of aluminum sheet (pop can where good for this) very hot water and washing soda. The water just had to be very hot it didn’t have to continuously boiling. This method was quick easy with less rubbing and it saved the silver didn’t harm it, however, it needed washing soda (sodium carbonate) to work. Using this method with or without the soda for stainless steel is an absolute total waste of time just hot water and soap is all you need for stainless steel.

Trust me, wealthy people don't use cheap stainless steel cutlery!

Thank you very much. It worked beautifully on my silver plate. The aluminum placed at the bottom of the pan turned black from the tarnish removed from the silver plate, the “walnut” balls also collected tarnish from the silver plate. The outcome is amazing. Such an effortless solution.

Those aren’t silver; they’re stainless.

Soooo you boil aliminum onto silverware rather than cleaning them properly and then the rich people injest the aluminum and it gets on their synapsoids so you work for them shorter cause they and the family get dimensia really fast???

Sensational idea, do you use it on real silver or everyday flatware?😊

I've done this before on sterling silver with no black antiqueing details or the black details will be removed along with the tarnish, and don't put any jemstones in the boiling water. Add some salt and baking soda in the water too works very well.

You would have to put either baking soda or vinegar in there. Soaking in dish soap and hot water seems like a bigger time saver than having to wait for hot water to boil in a large pot.

When I see stories or hacks like this, the first thing that comes to my mind is, how did you, or the first person who discovered this idea even though of putting these two things together to achieve the solution to that problem?
I don’t know if I’m the only one who think more in this line, than actually celebrating the results, or the solutions they bring😀
But as usual, seeing an unusual positive and easy solution to a problem, kudos to you for sharing this information🙏🏾🌸💖

She forgot one important step, baking soda is required to make the chemical reaction work.
