Nice. Thanks. I was doing the calculation based on normal acceleration of an object ("circling") is the square of its velocity divided by the local radius of curvature. Set this equal to g for the Earth and you become weightless. This gives an answer that is off by the square root of two (7910 m/s) for the escape velocity. Interestingly, using energy (as you did, which should be more universal), you get [basically] the same formula with two in the numerator under the radical sign, which accounts for the error. I like your presentation board. Great job.

I gotta know, how did you amass all of this knowledge? How many diplomas do you have? You make great content, easily understandable and excellently explained. Thank you for making videos

Okay, let's solve this step-by-step:

1) (6.67 x 10^-11) x (5.972 x 10^24)
= 3.9842 x 10^14

2) 3.9842 x 10^14 / (6.38 x 10^6)
= 6.2400 x 10^7

Therefore, the final result is:

6.2400 x 10^7

The escape velocity is exactly that by which the thing escaping will make it to infinity in infinite time, thus never stopping! LOL

could someone kindly explain to me how we can just add a negative sign to the intial potential energy. I literally cannot understand why, i've looked everywhere for an explanation and I can't find a single one i can easily understand.

Ehm, regarding the use of r, when I am given the distance the rocket has moved...when I am doing the calculations, will I only consider the radius of the earth alone or add both distances to represent that r value.
Kindly clarify.

With pe = gmm/r isnt that the same formula as force?so how does the dimemsions allow for f to be ewual to energy?

Sorry what? Isn’t the escape of Mars = square roof of 2x(6.67430x10^-11)(6.39^23)/ 3389.5= 158, 660? I think you got the radius of Mars wrong or something?

Can someone explain why the potential energy has to be negative, I tried to look up, but didnt find anything :(
