China has successfully launched two satellites into orbit via one rocket, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China's Gansu Province. On Thursday, the satellites were launched by a Long March-2D rocket at 8.15am. Developed by the China Academy of Sciences, one of the satellites will be used to collect and relay information monitoring stations and points in areas such as hydrology, meteorology and water resources, power and disaster reduction. The second is a "smart" communication satellite which will be used for experiments in multimedia satellite communications. The two satellites have reached their pre-set orbits using the rocket and this launch is the 192nd of the Long March-2D series. Report by Claire Lomas.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a child stuck in the satellite needing rescuing.
