I'm enjoying this Iceland series. It's interesting to see how they've adapted growing in the harsh climate

Hey one point! The condensed steam is practically never used for heating, rather it is put in a heat exchanger with cold groundwater on the other side which is then used for house heating.

This is because the steam still has a bunch of minerals in it like the blue lagoon water and will clog any pipe quickly.

Most hot water for house heating in iceland that uses geothermal energy is still just pumped hot water from low temperature zones (temperatures less than 150°C at a depth of a kilometer) and that water is not suitable for electricity production at a large scale.

Fun fact: the massive amount of hydropower was introduced due to lobbying by the aluminum industry, because most of the world's aluminum was made in Iceland due to the cheap cost of electricity, until the Aluminum industry outgrew the geothermal power available. By that time, institutional momentum meant it was easier to further increase energy production, rather than to move the aluminum plants elsewhere.

I’m really enjoying the videos you are doing from Iceland. Quite educational & fun. I always laugh when you come to explain something, you pause & say, “I don’t know.” Great job. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe. Blessings

I love how you're storytelling in this series, following the whole saga on how this ridiculous thing can even be possible. And branching out to related subjects is really cool too! In the future, it might be worth looking at other features of the local landscape when trying fruits, and how it has influenced them. Like a nearby volcano providing incredibly fertile soil, or surrounding mountain ranges cutting off an area and giving it a unique evolutionary history.

Just wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It is VERY well done. You should be super proud of this one. It reminds me of something I’d watch on National Geographic.

Reverse psychology worked on me i guess — after I heard you announce on your livestream that you wont be uploading the last two parts on schedule I decided to watch the first four parts and I’m pining for the conclusion!
