How to use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with Authy

This video will show you how to use 2-Factory Authentication by using the Authy App.  These apps will generate a One Time Passcode (OTP) that refreshes every 30 seconds and you enter that 6 digit code in after putting in your password. If you do not put in the correct passcode shown in the app it will not let you login. This is a great an easy way to lock your accounts to minimize the potential for having your account compromised. The app I prefer is Authy, linked below but Google makes an authenticator along with lastPass and a number of other companies.

If chances are so slim for someone to get my 2fa code... coukdnt they give me anorher 10 seconds. Or a visible timer. And can i turn off my passcode to save a few seconds. Can i change autheticators from 1 transaction to another?

Adam, Thanks for the informative video. Looking forward to accessing more videos from you on this topic. Have a question about your video. At the 12:05 mark you talk about the back-up codes and saving them elsewhere. I assume that each site you setup with 2FA, you'll receive a box with codes--correct? Do you save those codes with a different app or eventually print/store them elsewhere? I was also reading from a security website that using SMS as part of 2FA isn't very safe since it can be redirected. Would be interested in getting your views (maybe in a future video) on the topic since some banks/credit unions are now using that option. Thanks.

I can't find the first Google authenticator app on the play store anymore.. I just keep on seeing different ones on there.. Someone should give me a link to that very first authenticator.. I find the other ones hard

Auyhy and Okta verify gives different codes as Google authenticator and that only works with Crypyo, in my mind all should give the same if applied at the same time, Ayuthy and Okta gives same

Thanks for the great video. I wonder if you could expand on this in terms of how to set up 2FA with Authy with multiple devices. For example, I have some accounts that have 2FA enabled on them. I have set them up on y desktop and phone. I have hired a remote virtual assistant and need to allow her access to these accounts. How do I have her set this up? I do not what to give her access to my Authy account as she would potentially have access to accounts I don't want her to access to. Info on this would be fantastic.

Hey Adam
Good video, love watched a few of them. My question is.. my original phone that had 2fa on it was destroyed. I have to get into one of the accounts and of course they want to verify me with the 2fa. Should I start the process from scratch or is there anything else that I should do?

This is the best tutorial video about 2FA to me, I think you will attract more viewers if the title is clearer using 2FA Authy)

Very helpful video! I have one question about authy - is it supposed to just keep running in the background ALL the time, generating a code every 30 seconds, and never shuts off? Once I get my code and enter it on the website, I can't seem to shut authy down so it's not using up the battery when I'm done with the code. Am I missing something here??? Thank you!

What if you lose your phone or it gets destroyed? How do you get into your sites again?

Have a question using a phone only not a computer and setting up authy if you still recommend that

Adam, I am not tech-savvy at all. I had 2FA set up with Google, Authy and some other app. I decided to clean things up, but I managed to delete critical info. Now, I cannot log in to any of the sites I had 2FA set up for. When I try to access one of these sites, they first ask me to check my authenticator. Of course, I am now unable to do that. Then, it offers me an alternate way to log in, and takes me to a site that asks for one of my backup codes, which I do not have. Is there anyway to obtain access to my sites and start over again with 2FA? Thanks!
