Thanks! Thumbs up. Wondering if you've covered the "solo" version (Capt.'s log)?

I'd be up for a TOS campaign, but not with people who don't fully appreciate Trek. I probably couldn't run with a group who wanted to name the ship "Yerface"

Star Trek game is awesome, currently working on an Orville version of it.

playing in a couple days, that's why I wanted your 3 minute take on it. Just played Conan 2d20 yesterday, a similar system.

Have to say, I prefer Traveller for all space-faring science fiction roleplay, but I found this review useful.

I do have a desire to play the game. Actually I’m going to be playing at this weekend for the first time. It seems fun and exciting I can’t wait. This is the first time I’ll be using or a game with the 2D so it is going to take some getting used to try to roll under my target as opposed to over. Should be fun once again I’m excited I’m happy I can’t wait.

What kinda characters can you build ?
What other franchises does this game company have the rights to. What other settings does the two D20 system have ? Are they comparable with each other?

Genuinely, I've resd a chunk of the book - I still didn't understand how the rolls work. They have examples of "the team rolled two successes and Amy rolled a 10 and a 17, for a total of three successes, and then they decided to keep this attribute, and the team and Amy rolled a 15 and 16, with two successes, for a total of five successes on the Instance so..." and I'm like ?!?!?!

Three minute video, and now I think I get it enough to read it again!

Do the rules have tables to roll for encounters?

Can I repost this at the Continuing Missions fan site?

I have the Star Trek RPG starter set. The basic rules seem more complicated than most rpg games. I also know Decipher’s Star Trek 2d6 game & much easier to comprehend. I love Star Trek but wish the system was less complicated.

My problem with the resolution mechanic is that it is redundant. Instead of rolling a die to succeed, you roll multiple dice to get multiple successes to try and succeed. That mechanical wrinkle doesn't improve the play experience, it just makes resolution take longer. It also mixes positive and negative logic, which straight up confuses most people- that's why THAC0 was so hated, for example. It would make more sense to just roll one die against the target number and apply the DC as a modifier to the target number. Harder than usual? Penalty to target number. Easier than usual? Bonus to target number. Simple. Single die. Straight forward. Besides which, the original 2d20 system doesn't even do what dice pool systems were built for. The whole idea of a dice pool is that rolling big handfuls of dice makes you feel like a super powerful player in the game. But this game has a maximum limit of 5d20. Gee, that sure is a lot of dice. So their use of a dice pool system is, even on a theoretical level, fairly flawed.
