This case is sooo bizarre to me. What do you think the truth is?

As a practicing lawyer I would strongly advise anyone questioned by the police to request your right to a lawyer. It’s a constitutional right for a reason.

If a person assumes someone is guilty for invoking their right to an attorney they are ignorant. Innocent people are convicted all the time for things they say to police without an attorney present thinking they are "helping" an investigation. "Anything you say CAN AND WILL be used AGAINST YOU", no matter what police claim!

If it were my son we would have also lawyered up. Not because of guilt, Unfortunately investigators can sometimes accuse the wrong people.

It's not a red flag to lawyer up. It's not a red flag to stop talking to law enforcement. It's not a red flag to not take a police performed polygraph. You have the right to protect yourself - that doesn't mean you don't care.

I feel for the family
But There was no reason to file that lawsuit against the young men with her that night. Not enough evidence.
Male or female, college kids have got to be careful about alcohol and drug consumption. That’s not victim blaming, that’s responsibility and common sense.

Anytime you are questioned by police, you always want counsel present. You can be as innocent as the day is long. If you allow yourself to be taken into an interrogation room without a lawyer at your side, you are a fool.

I'm not victim blaming but when you see how intoxicated some students get it's terrifying.

Women, young women especially, need to learn their alcohol limits for their own safety! We already have the odds stacked against us physically to defend ourselves, let alone inebriated.

Lawyering up is not an admission of guilt. In today's world, it is a necessity.

when i hear stories like this and i think of all of my insanely intoxicated nights in my teens and 20s, i can’t help but feel grateful that i never found myself in more scary situations. it’s also terrifying now as a mother thinking of my children one day reaching the “part age”. it’s such a scary world we live in! i can’t imagine what families go through when a loved one disappeares 💔

Why did she lie to her boyfriend about being ill? Why did she go out with another boy? Where did her friend go? Why were her boyfriends friends at her place? Why didn’t they do anything about her going back to this other guys house or tell Jessie? So many weird facts to this that don’t make sense. Very sad she was eventually left to her own devices, it could’ve been the difference between life and death

I hate that people feel if you lawyer up then you must be guilty, it’s our RIGHT and not all cops play by the rules, ALWAYS lawyer up

I think someone took her. Simply because they haven’t found the body.

Also, I want to remind young women, please do not put yourselves in these vulnerable positions. I know it shouldn’t be that way but it is. Evil lurks around everywhere just waiting for an opportunity. Don’t give it that opportunity. No one says just because you are in college that you need to get blackout drunk. Stay with friends always.

Thank you for covering this case! I lived down the street from Lauren and remember all too well when she went missing. I feel like everyone that lived there at the time, was looking for her. Even months after she was missing I found myself looking for any clue I could find. I still cannot believe she hasn’t been found. It’s truly heartbreaking.

Thank you so much for covering Lauren's case. I've been following it closely from the moment it happened. I went to IU and I have friends who knew Lauren. I hope she is found, no matter the circumstance. Her parents deserve peace.

As someone who used to party hard in my late teens/early 20s, I feel very lucky to have always had good, wise friends around me, to take care of my well-being when needed. I could easily have been in Lauren’s shoes at any point back then….😭 I really feel for her, and her family, and hope they find closure 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

That picture of her precious parents at 29:46 is the most heartbreaking expression of grief I have seen. No words are necessary. The devastation is right there. God bless the family and their loved ones.

I think that the fact that she was not caught on any surveillance cameras on her way home means she never left the place where she was last seen.
