Thank you both for your thoughtful comments and arguments. I did have to agree more with Jesse. I am in academics and know many who feel they cannot express their opinions for fear of being fired.

Free speech is an enlightenment ideal. It is not merely the text of the 1st ammendment, it is essential to a free and open Democratic society.

Christopher Hitchens warned that, soon following the demise of print journalism, we would find ourselves exactly where we are today. He described our inevitable future as:
"...an era of terrible relativism where everyone's opinion is as good as everyone else's. You don't have to earn any credibility anyway. Pretty soon you'll have not just your own opinion, but your own facts and there wouldn't be a common stock of reference."

Jesse was over conciliatory in this debate, IMO (though maybe a necessary tactic). Mikaila just can't help wanting to talk about her favorite, unrelated topics (unions/workers, BLM, Trump...) in a kind of derailing way, IMO.

People should not have to fear economic devastation and death threats for stating facts.

The woman is an insane person. She should be ignored and given zero power over others in society. Silencing people can NEVER lead to more open speech and dialogue.

Was it impossible to find anyone that had done some research or had any data? Was the production just not long enough to get into any details? Everything both speakers said was anecdotal, and one of them kept trying to change the subject.

How about some actual examples? Should someone be fired because they tweet "biological sex is real" ?
