Happy to find I have at least one of all your recommendations. What I need now is someone to come to my home and style all this for me! I inherited many things grandfathers estate on the Isle of Man - he was an artist, and my parents who lived in England for years. Our children are not interested in much that we’ve collected over the years which may be because I don’t have things displayed to their best advantage. Maybe someday I’ll get it together! Great video but I’d have to say my favorite vintage/antique is British sterling silver.

I never thought of decorative boxes as being a category of decor, but it make sense.
I had thought of boxes as being in the broad category of containers, and containers can hold multiple things and help define vignettes. My list of containers would include baskets and trays. You can arrange certain things into baskets that might look out of place just by themselves, such as scarves, handkerchiefs, eye glasses and jewelry.

But the boxes you showed make for nice artistic pieces. They are nice for a dresser or bookshelf or desk.

My sister, bless her heart, had put a gravy boat on a bookshelf in the old library as a decoration. She had a box of home magazines with bookmarks for decorating ideas. I think she was thinking more about the color of the gravy boat than gravy being next to books. I sneaked the gravy boat into the dining room. I told her she could have all the vases she wanted in the library, just not a gravy boat. You don't normally think of these things until the situation comes up.

I'm in TROUBLE!! NEVER should have watched your video on 'Traditional Decor' this morning... (now on my 4th!) I'm a native SoCAL'er moving to Nashville in 2 weeks... SUPPOSED to be PACKING but I found YOU! Oh my goodness... my brand new home is getting SO excited but I'm in deep... (LOVE the Joni Mitchell photos!) I've lived at the beach for 50 years so I've got to 'shift' slightly for my new Nashville (INLAND) life! YIKES! OH- I have a vintage burled maple dresser that's been hiding in my closet for decades... it's going to show off in my new home!
