That is so comforting to know for some reason.

in a book I have on the shelf called: Mysticism: The Spiritual Path, they posit that there are three main paths of inquiry into the human condition.
Science or Logic which is through the mind and its faculties
Religion, which is an appeal to emotions and emotional states, and
Mysticism which is an effort to achieve first hand knowledge or experience beyond emotions and above the mind. This is done through meditation, stillness and focus of the attention.

The author contends direct experience is superior to book learning and lectures. They also offer that emotions can lead to a heightened state but with a loss of control of the outcome or direction.

Hence they suggest Mysticism is the Spiritual Path to follow. It was quite fascinating to hear it laid out this way.

This is the view of Western historiography. The "philosophers" themselves, never claimed they were rationalists. This shows the limited view and understanding that West has on Ancient Greece which introduces this kind of misunderstandings.

The irony is we’ve based our entire society on atomism and scientism. Nobody wants to admit they’re the dominant philosophy/religion of our time

Thank you, i was so ready for a 13 year olds first short praising Sokrates as the father of science or smth. At that time it wouldn’t really have been religion vs rationalism.

Some things are inherently mystical and cannot be accurately described by rational language, only experienced. Human knowledge, systems and language have limita that higher mysteries (or God) are not limited to.

I guess they were more connected to Nature, Mother Earth and of course our Creator, the Almighty I Am!
