I just recently helped my 17 year old with his tie because of your videos; like 15 years old ago I helped his father with his tie with your first video on YouTube. Thank you so much Ben.

I usually line up the skinny end with a certain button on my shirt depending on if I am doing windsor or double windsor. I hadn't even thought of doing it the way you showed us. Thank you.

Well this beats reading google results for "what's the right length for a tie", I had no idea there was a "right" length but I don't have to search any more for the answer :)

I like it a little higher then that, but not much. I'd say depending on what knot I use, I like it anywhere from the waistline up to just below my belly button. I'm not down with the past decade or two trend of really long ties where it goes below the waist line. - I'm fairly slight as well.

I wouldn't say that a longer tie slenderizes a man. However, for especially large men with rounder bellies, making sure the tie reaches the belt in all postures will help avoid the appearance that the belly is protruding. Blank space below the tie and above the belt gives the impression that the belly is pushing the tie up and out, while also calling attention to the belly. This really only applies to rather large men, though.
If you feel this body shape applies to you, I suggest aiming for the tip of the tie to hang only an inch or two below the bottom of the belt buckle, then lean back a bit and observe in a mirror. If only a little shirt is showing between the tie and the belt, you will be fine. Avoid tying it especially long (as you see Mr. Trump doing). This only creates the impression that you don't know how to tie a tie and does nothing to help your appearance.

I hate ties. Heres the reason why. Because most ties are to short for me. And its not because im super tall. Its because i have a size 18” neck. And all standard length ties end up being like 4” above belt. And all the best ties in the world made by the best companies for the majority of the time only make standard length ties. So im either stuck buying ugly ties that are cheap quality but are exstra long length. Or buy one of the best ties in the world, but it will be 4” above my waist. So its a no win situation . But because im cursed like this, I decided to say “f it” and will be the weirdo who has the best tie in the world, but it looks ridiculous once unbutton my suit jacket. But its the price i have to pay for being cursed. ✌️
