Autonomous Remote Inspection Demo

In this demo, a remote operator sends an unmanned ground vehicle on an autonomous inspection mission via Clearpath's web-based Outdoor Navigation Software. The vehicle is equipped with a variety of sensors including a fish-eye dome camera, PTZ camera with night vision and optical zoom, 2D LiDAR, 3D LiDAR, GPS and IMU.
Upon starting the mission, the robot undocks from a Wibotic wireless charging dock and navigates to its first point of interest - a gas meter. Once it arrives there, it performs an automated visual inspection using the onboard PTZ camera. As the robot continues its mission, it encounters an obstacle which it detects and successfully avoids using its onboard LiDAR sensors.
Before returning back to home base, the remote operator pauses the autonomous mission and takes full control of the robot remotely via the software's teleoperation mode. The operator drives the robot to another point of interest (waste disposal bins) to manually inspect. Once finished, the autonomous mission is resumed and the robot returns to home base where it successfully re-docks to the Wibotic wireless charging dock.
