The 991 made it too difficult to wrench on and a lot of us still like to change our own oil. I also like the retractable grill tail on the 997 more dating back to the 964. That to me was truly the essence of a 911. This 997 is amazing in every aspect.

Thanks Janko. A great video. My 997.2 C4S is parked up in the garage under covers and hasn't been started for about 6 weeks. So, this afternoon I'm going to get the car out and go for a long drive. Thanks for the inspiration to get the car out more.

Agreed! A 997.2 Manual, coupe will be a solid growing investment (if you can find one)

The 997 is probably the best purist modern gen of the 911 and this spec is stunning. But that is, if the 991 didn't come around. 991 made the 911 more GT looking which got the attention other sport car buyers.
Still it's hard to just get a 997 just for the engine and not move forward with Porsche's progress in the future gens. 991 for me.
Must mention your work Janko, sticking to your guns, making the videos in your style is pretty cool. Bravo.

997.2 4S Cab non baptised here. Last 911 I had was a 3.2 Cab. I wanted performance comfort, refinement and safety and it delivers 200%. I don’t mind that 80’s 911’s have rocketed in price - I wouldn’t touch one again. Too many close shaves. PDK is the biggest surprise for me. I also had too many bad shifts in the 3.2 and with my declining hearing a manual wouldn’t work anymore. The power band is wide and the engine, although sounding great, is relatively quiet. Trust me there’s plenty thrills to concentrate on even without deciding on gears.

I don’t think the 997.2 needs to be compared with anything. To me it is perfect yet classic. No Alcantara for me thank you.

I have retired at naturally aspirated. Done. Finished. Thank you for a wonderful perspective on how we retired preserve history rather than being old cranks who should just move over for the new stuff.

I was on the edge to sell my Carrera 4s, just the same of that in this video but after having seen the video I’ve changed idea, it’s really a beautiful everyday car to drive.

Great vid, glad to be back as I lost my computer. I spoiled myself for my 50th birthday in 2014 and bought a 2010 997.2 C4S, put HRE P1’s on sticky Michelin and also a Titanium Akrapovic sport exhaust. Wow. Last year and because of one of your videos, I bought a teacher, v2 1985 944 from the original owner. My good god Porsche is such an Iconic brand made for enthusiasts. Your vids are still fantastic

Yes i am quite distracted by it but wonderfully so.
And you did make a very important and overlooked point about the S being more of a sleeper and less flashy, which is starting to appeal to me more now as I age (38).

This guy absolutely read my mind with the "whoa whoa whoa, come back" comment. A mere second before my brain was having issues processing so much red I was having flashbacks of that scene in the movie The Shining where all the waves of blood rush out of the elevators. The horror.

The 2004 anniversary edition 911 carrera 2 with the X51 package and 4S or turbo front bumper with all the sports options including the sport seat is the best 911. It's basically a GTS before the name GTS
