The profile form and the impromptu beam compass work well. If you must perform the work all at once this technique works but performing all aspects of the shaping without letting the stucco begin to harden in between building up the profile makes this weaker and less detailed. This technique only works when using horizontal. If creating on vertical surface, there is much more involved. If there is time, the Romanian Master technique with drying time (for partial hardening / firmness in stages plus additional steel stiffeners will not have the surface cracks this method will produce. If you look carefully, you can see all the imperfections with this method. The dry Portland mix being added makes it quick but not as good as a mixed and added with some set-up time in between. When complete, he would have to wait overnight to allow curing time otherwise when picked up it while crack and break. These comments are based on having been involved creating these types of profiles on high end buildings previously.
