The big problem China will have with this mega-city idea... Been living here for over 15 years now... The two major things I noticed about Chinese planning and construction... one... the Chinese seem to like building new things... but not devoting effort to maintaining it after built... two... and even the new built things seem to be speed over quality... after working in a number of the skyscrapers in Beijing and Shanghai... some of the things I saw gave me some concern... it will be interesting to see in 20 years or so.

The concentration of so many people in such tight spaces will multiply the victims of natural disasters and other events many fold. One day there will be a traffic jam so huge and snarled it will be impossible to unsnarl it.

IMO having lived in cities, suburbs, and rural areas, rural is the best. I don't see why we even need cities anymore in our post industrial society. Even suburbs are too crowded.
