Could you imagine what the world could achieve together if we spent trillions on the human race instead of fighting each other 😮

Learn Chinese to get comprehensive understanding of China and have fun in learning process.
I’ve made many videos teaching Chinese in a self-proclaimed humorous way.
About 3000 Chinese characters cover 99% characters in newspapers and books. From my previous videos you can learn about 400 common characters.
There are about 120 commonly used Chinese character radicals. From my previous videos, you can learn about 80 basic radicals.
I’ve spent about 100, 000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture and jokes. My native language is Chinese.

China works hard to uplift the livelihood for her citizens.
Whereas the US focuses on which country to subdue next, as many weapons need to be used before they expire . 😢😢😢😢

There is a saying that America is led by lawyers, while China is led by engineers.

In the US, we have a similar major multi-lane bridge here on the 405 highway in Southern California. The project is a bridge road expansion, not any demolition, just an expansion from 4 to 8 lanes. Signs were put up announcing the expansion which was truly needed but nothing was done for 9 months. Then after a long wait, piles of steel were brought in and stacked high for all passing cars to see but it sat there for another 9 months of show, and construction hadn't even started. I never saw a worker there whenever I pass by it. This country used to be a "can do" nation but now has turned into a "can't do" land.

The main reason is the Chinese think of there country first the west think of how much profit they can pocket, then if there is any thing left they are more interested on how it get it into there pockets, the country is the last thing they think of.West money the Chinese the country.

My grandfather was a (the?) lead civil engineer on the construction of the "Burma Road". He had an offer to attend graduate school in the US but could not due to a communicable eye infection. After World War II ended, my father left China to study civil engineering at National Taiwan University and graduated first in his class. He then attended graduate school at Notre Dame University. My mother told me that while at Notre Dame, my father's professor let him teach a civil engineering course because he had a very good background in the subject matter. After graduating Notre Dame, my father would eventually work as a lead engineer doing structural design on buildings and nuclear power plants here in the US. I remember reading a letter from my father's boss praising him for his attention to detail and dedication on a particular project, calling him a "crackerjack". I wish he could have seen this video so I could hear his thoughts on these construction techniques. I think he would have found this video to be very interesting.

Since Chinese people have no land right or other rights to say it's easy to build fast there.
Other than that they can just easily hide the deaths and poor condition of workers during infrastructure operation but not possible in western countries, they'll get sue for that.

When you have no standards or very low standards, slave labor, and an utterly ruthlessly oppressive and corrupt government you can make slave laborers achieve all sorts of things...

We should also learn from their hidden failures and construction shortcuts that have created dangerous buildings and real estate that is unusable. You can also read the horror stories about the sewage and water systems, the lack of flood control, etc. Yes, they do some really cool stuff but yes they also have a lot of things they need to improve.

Every bridge building is unique, catered to the terrain, wind tolerance, weight, distance, load, etc. There are no off-the-shelf standard parts in bridge construction. It requires innovation on the part of engineers. The test of a good bridge is to see how well it holds up after 60 yrs. The Brooklyn Bridge in New York is an outstanding example.

Get rid of 90% of the civil servants and regulators and bring our countries back to what we were 79+ years ago and you’ll have a country again.

The comparison between the United States and China in terms of project implementation and regulatory processes reveals notable differences. In the United States, various factors come into play, including environmental laws, trade unions, municipalities, state entities, federal agencies, NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) groups, and funding mechanisms. These elements contribute to a complex decision-making landscape that can lead to additional costs and time considerations.

In contrast, China's governance structure allows the government to wield significant authority, enabling them to allocate resources and expedite project development as they see fit. This streamlined approach may prioritize efficiency over certain aspects like environmental protection or extensive public consultation.

An intriguing example of the contrasting approaches is seen in the construction of the Bay Bridge, where engineers utilized air bubble curtain technology for noise abatement to safeguard wildlife. While commendable, implementing such measures adds to the costs and time required for completion—a consideration that might not receive the same level of attention in countries with a more expedited project development approach.

It's important to acknowledge that these disparities stem from divergent regulatory frameworks and political systems. The United States places emphasis on democratic processes, public engagement, and comprehensive evaluations, which can result in more rigorous requirements and extended timelines. Conversely, China's centralized decision-making allows for swift implementation but may entail compromises in certain areas.

Recognizing these distinctions can foster a better understanding of the factors contributing to divergent approaches to project development. However, it's crucial to consider the unique context and priorities of each country while striving for efficient, sustainable, and inclusive practices that address the concerns of all stakeholders.

The Sanyuan bridge may only take 43 hrs to construct but it took 120 days of planning and preparations (making prefabrications, producing specialized machinery such as bridge movers, and gathering an army of 1000 workers.)

I had a chance to visit Shanghai and it was one of the most incredible things I’d ever seen. I also had a chance to see one of its poorer areas, which was also eye opening and could make Americas poorest trailer park look like a palace.
