I live in a closet-size 80-square-foot NYC apartment: See inside | New York Post

Tiny houses may be chic elsewhere, but in New York they’re generally just considered a good deal.

This city slicker calls a closet-sized space home, but she’s customized it to feel a lot bigger than it is.

“I’m basically living in an RV or van without wheels,” said personal trainer Nikki in the latest home profile by creator and self-proclaimed “MTV Cribs” of his generation, Caleb Simpson.

“I can almost lay down the entire apartment,” Simpson commented of Nikki’s micro unit — which measures in at a tiny 80 square feet — in a video captioned “Minimalist life style unlocked!” that has accrued 53,000-plus likes since being uploaded. Nikki’s neighborhood is not specified, and only referred to as being in the “heart of Manhattan.” Her rent for the itty-bitty abode somewhere in the city? An even $1,750 a month.

I mean, that's cool for her. I'll take my 3-car garage, gym, office, big bedrooms, a backyard, etc etc, for about $400 more per month. Oh, and equity in the property.

For $1750 you can rent an 1, 800 square foot house with a yard about 40 minutes outside of Raleigh/Durham NC.

Only in NY city you can pay $1750 a month to move into a glorified closet.
It's almost like paying to go to jail.

80² feet for a living space... No thank you. I'd rather have a 1, 000² ft. mini-home than that micro apartment unit.

Yup... live in the pod, eat the bugs, own nothing, and you'll like it. No thanks, I'll take my house out in the boonies, own whatever I want and eat whatever I want. I can't believe you people even think $1, 750 for a closet is even reasonable.

How small can you go? I'm waiting to see a 10sq ft apt in NY city. How much would that rent for? $400/mo.?

You can buy a house for 1200 a month. Don't over pay for cramped space.

this is what being priced out of living in an area looks like, that space should be no more than 600 dollars

So happy i live in a Red state.. Oklahoma we have a 2 bedroomn apartment with plenty of room.. Decent sized living room, and alright bathroom for $880 a month, Though was $720 when we first got it, but inflation, and such has made it go up.

Wait people consider this space the size of a closet? That’s the size of a decent bedroom….

My house is equal to 50 of those. I think every room in the house is bigger than that apartment including the bathrooms and closets. My cats' playroom is equal to 7 of those apartments and has a 16 foot ceiling. I have parking for 6 cars indoors and like 12 outdoors. My front yard is the size of a football field and so is my back yard. And these are the people who look down on rural hicks like me. Seriously.
