Hello internet! The Sony a600 has Eye Autofocus! If you didn't know that, now you do! This definitely works, and I feel like with all the new camera hype, this feature is overlooked. Hopefully this helped you understand how to setup eye autofocus and how to use it with a custom button. The a6000 is such a little gem of a camera, so it's nice to know how to use it to it's full power!

I’m totally new to photography and bought a second hand a6000 for about $400. Have had the camera for a month or so and have weaned myself off auto mode. Your videos are helping me so much. Please keep making a6000 videos.

Thank you for continuing to make tutorials about the a6000, they are so helpful for someone like me who is still learning the basics on this older model camera. Great video!

I JUST discovered that the focus area isn’t required to be in ‘Wide’ mode for the Eye AF to kick in! But the auto focus does need to detect a face in the photo first before hitting the Eye AF hot key. ‘Wide’ will catch it more easily but the entire focus area is overridden once you see that gray box over a face and Eye AF can be used. Thanks for the videos! Making my A6000 feel like it’s one of the new models ☺️🙏🏽

Fantastic video. I bought this at end of market. But it was smart as this is a great camera. Not being a professional this is more than adequate for home personal use.

When it comes to gear I've never been an early adopter and never wanted to pay to be a beta tester. On the other hand, I didn't want to get too far behind advances in technology. I'm also a Canon DSLR shooter and was disappointed in their initial mirrorless offerings. As luck would have it a friend gave me a good deal on a6000 with w/ 16-50 zoom lens. I updated firmware for faster start-up and have been watching videos to learn how to set it up. Thanks to you I now have eye focus. I know that by using this camera I can begin to learn what features I'll want in my next mirrorless camera. Some things I don't like about the a6000 is the proprietary hot shoe. I can't use any of my current flash units or my pocket wizards. There is no microphone jack or headphone jack, no eye focus in continuous shooting. The video button is tiny but I can use a custom button. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of things to like about the camera. Sounds like I'd be happier with a6100 or higher. Would be wonderful if continuous eye AF could be added in firmware but I'll bet Sony would rather I buy a new camera. All in all the a6000 is a good springboard to mirrorless shooting and thanks for videos on its use.

Very informative easy to understand video from you, thank you.

I am new to the A6000 and would like to learn more on the following please.

a. Setting a button to Back Button Focusing and also how to use it correctly.

b. I know there are plenty of third party lens for the A6000 but you either have to have adaptors or use manual focus. Could you please go through the
procedure especially where the lens they are selling informs you manual focus only.

Nice one mate!
Keep 'em coming, not least because I bought an A6000 in Feb 2017 and didn't unbox it until last month when a Sony retailer was offering 'free' software updates.
I now adore it but puzzle over its use. Can't think of questions now but I was perplexed about pulling (JPEG) images from it to an expensive Samsung phone.
I fixed that by using a cheaper phone that recognised the camera, as they all should! There is confusion and disquiet about Sony app 'improvements on The Play Store reviews'.
So I'm sticking with cables for the moment.
This vid was inspired! Ta.

5 years old but still a good deal, the new cameras haven’t changed that much tbh.

Great video. I actually thought they disabled eye af on the a6000. I just set mine back up. First I tried using my Sigma 16mm and it said it was invalid with this lens. I got my kit lens out and said the same thing. Checked my update and I was on 3.20 and should be on 3.21. I updated my a6000 and was still having trouble using eye af. Correct me if I am wrong but if you go to eye af in the menu it always says lens invalid? Finally got my custom button setup and seems to be working fine on my Sigma lenses and my Sony ones too. Not great in low light but still very nice to have.

Still thinking of pulling the trigger on an 6100 or 6400 but think I will hold on to the 6000 for a while longer. I still obviously have lots to learn. Love your videos and this one really helped a lot.

Does Eye Autofocus work in video recording mode? I couldn't figure out how to make it work while capturing a video. Great video Kyle! Thanks!

Thank you so much for the helpful tips! I just got my Sony A6k and love all the useful tidbits! I haven't scrolled through all of your videos but do you have one that specifically addresses how to use the camera best with certain popular lenses? For instance I have the 55-210mm & a 50mm and would love to know what settings/useful tips you have! Maybe this is a repeat question, if so, I apologize, just started following your channel 🙈
