Well demonstrated, I’ve been looking at both these jigs for a while and now I know which one I should buy

I've found a supporting hand on the far side, as the dowel extends through, helps reduce vibration/shaking and results in nice, smooth, accurate dowels.

Pretty nice jigs indeed, Tomasz! Fantastic review! 😃
You can put the wood on the drill to chamfer it. Just use some sandpaper. 😉
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I got mine from Temu, it's the same as the second one shown except it doesn't have the clamps or the thumbscrew, but it was less than £12. I have made 20mm dowels out of walnut using just this and it's coped really well, (I hand planed it down to slightly over 20mm round). I'm using these for the mat hold downs that you demonstrated in an earlier video. The use of a socket is brilliant.

My workbench is tatty, like yours. I'd have no problem driving screws into my bench. If you've got a pristine bench that you dont want to damage, screw the jig to a scrap of ply, then clamp that to your bench. Good video, good advice.

Great review Tomasz. I'd be inclined to screw the jigs onto a piece of ply/similar for mounting in a vice. Also, its a pity that the screw-in adapter doesn't work. I think you would need too many extra processes to resolve it eg clamping a jubilee clip or cable tie around it. Keep up the good work 👏🏼

Great video, maybe the hex fitting on the second jig would work better in Hardwood?

I have just checked by purchased beech dowels and they are actually slightly smaller than the stated nominal sizes. I guess that allows for the glue etc. so perhaps they are not over cutting.

Great demo and thanks for the tips. Just wondering how long the cutter lasts for on these jigs, can they be sharpened or can you buy a replacement when the time comes???

I would just put them in my vice to hold them, saves screw holes in the bench.

I wonder if you wouldn't want dowels to be undersized as a rule, to fit with holes from standard drill bits...
Anyway, thanks for the video

All that time & effort just buy some dowels!
