The Gnostic Monad

Prominent Christian Gnostics taught that the Monad is the high source of the Pleroma. Through a process of emanation various divine entities and realms emerged from the One. The various emanations of the One, are called Aeons. They became progressively degraded due to their remoteness from the Father. In some versions of Christian Gnosticism a lesser deity known as the Demiurge who had a role in the creation of the material world separate from the Monad.

Monad is a philosophical idea that originally was conceived by Pythagoreans to reference a single source acting alone, or to an indivisible origin, or to both. Later it was adopted by cosmogony to explain that everything was only part of a supreme being, a divinity that encompasses all that ever was, current is and will potentially be.

Hopefully you can clear this up for me because it confuses me greatly. How does anything fall due to distance from the Monad when the Monad encompasses all that exists?
I have always felt that our sentience is Source trying to comprehend and define self. As a piece of Source we have the same search echoed within ourselves. This would mean our life purpose is to participate and observe existence in an effort to define ourselves. In so doing as each soul reports back to Source the pieces of the puzzle become apparent and Source can reassemble them to self define. The issue becomes problematic when you consider the first step is to extract, separate or fracture the whole to get the fragment. I get that fractals contain the whole but I assume the reassembled picture is much like Humpty Dumpty- a slightly dented version of self.
