the first thing you learn when you join mountaineers association is about how to make your shoes waterproof but instead of rubbing candle on the shoes you melt paraffin and pour it into the shoe and then pour the excess out. i have one pair made this way 10 years ago and they are still waterproof.

My feet have been wet for so many years, I used to cry at night because my feet were wet, then my tears would make my feet even wetter. it was a vicious circle which I couldn't escape from. Sometimes I wondered if waterproofing even existed, I thought it was just some kind of folklore created by ancient native american tribes. I used to sometimes scream and shout, then Julie left. It was 14th November 2005, I just got back from the annual paddling pool festival in Nebraska, and once again my feet were wet. Wetter than ever. She told me it was over, she'd had enough, there was someone else, he had dry feet. I was left crushed and alone. Until the 30th November 2014, when I found this video. Now my flip flops are stronger than ever and my feet have stayed dry. Life is so much better now, my wife came back and we have 3 wonderful children (two of which are at Harlem community college the other is at Oxford (Brookes). We also have 2 dogs a cat and an alpaca (called Al, would you believe?!). There is no end to happiness and I owe it all to the big man up there- crazy russian hacker, oh and God. I realise now that the one should not judge a man by the dryness of his feet, but by the warmness of his heart. Thank you. You'll never know how much you mean to me Julie

But seriously, this is quite smart. It's a cheaper alternative to the (super)hydrophobic (and occasionally, also oleophobic) coating sprays.

This might be helpful for a marathon in warm conditions, where you'd have to spill tons of drinking water on top of your body while running. Last time I did that, my shoes were wet, my socks were wet, and I finished a marathon with blisters.
