Nice and fizzy, but from start to finish there's nothing about it I cannot achieve with identical results using a BJT. *The one way I would amend that claim is to hear a JFET very heavily overdriven by setting it to the max of it's operating specs so we get a "fuzz" aka true overdrive from the active device itself compressing and clipping.*

Every active device definitely has it's own soul when you hit it with everything you've got in terms of maxing it's output and then, stacking at least 2 in a row before sending to a speaker and if necessary, dumping an appropriate amount of current to ground by taking your output off a voltage divider.

And... now that pedal got something right. It's so hard to hit that sweetspot at the very breakup, something like a dirty boost - less than an Overdrive...
So sweet. Right up my alley!
I wasn't surprised, if this turned out to be basically a very low gain FuzzFace, built around JFets.
Believe it or not - but those are the tones I use my SunFace for, because it sounds more natural and dynamic than any of my Overdrive pedals.
