They want to aquire the parent company of Fromsoft, which owns the company that did Brothership.

Correction, Sony wants to buy Kadokawa for its Anime/Manga properties, that would actually be very bad, as they manage Crunchyroll very abismally already. Getting From Software, Spike Chunsoft and Acquire is a byproduct bonus.

But I don't think Nintendo would be affected by this, they'll find another studio or the people in Acquire will move there after Sony inevitably shuts down the studio for no reason.

If this acquisition goes through (and if sony is not willing to partner with Nintendo), this will probably mean we'll simply never get a new pokemon mystery dungeon ever again. Pokemon mystery dungeon isnt a pokemon spin-off in the normal sense. Rather it's like the warriors series where it's a series by a seperate studio that just so happens to make games revolved around other series (think Hyrule warriors). As an example, one of the other well known mystery dungeon games is chocobo's mystery dungeon. This isn't a case of just hiring a different studio like with Mario & Luigi. They actually need to partner with that specific studio

The saddest realisation for me is that some of my favorites franchises will seize to exist like somnium files, danganronpa master detective archives, spike chunsoft and acquire will be the first casualties of this acquisition so this is not needed 😢

They would not get the IP.
It would be microsoft buying a dev thinking they would get DK and others, but only getting Banjo kazzoie again.

Oh, I don't know how I feel about that. For one, Nintendo finally found a team they want to work on the Mario & Luigi series, so that would be a huge loss for us fans (who knows how long it would take for them to find another). On the other hand, Fromsoft games becoming exclusives sounds like a nightmare that should never happen.

Kadokawa is a very big player in Japanese animation. The potential fallout from this buyout would be more on the anime side rather than on gaming. It’s a given that Sony will impose some sort of censorship on Kadokawa properties.

Spike chunsoft also still makes Pokemon mystery dungeon games as well as pretty much all of the mystery dungeon style games over the years.If they get bought out, none of those games will go to Switch and will get a massive delayed release on PC.

Fromsoft is also owned by Kadokawa which means all Souls game will be Sony exclusive. Acquire will also only make Octopath 3 and any other HD-2d game for Sony systems.

No! I really enjoyed the new mario and Luigi! They made it feel theyre own while staying so faithful, they did an excellent job and id love to see rhem do more Mario and luigi in future.

in seriousness though - its a good startegy, cafter they copied mario very well for players who dont own a switch.
However this aquisition would be much larger. I would NOT like fromsoft to be owned by any company.

So, what annoys me is how the markets are splitting. Microsoft is taking over the giants, and Sony is taking over the games people gravitate to. Sure both companies make games we like to play but of the two I worry about trying to play exclusivity whack-a-mole, it is Sony I worry about the most. I'm sorry, but I'm still very bitter that my favorite single game in a franchise is "Sunset Overdrive." I love that game so much, and yet, would it kill Sony to work with Microsoft to let them make a sequel? This is why I've moved to PC and Nintendo. In the end, I should be able to play all the games I want on one of those two systems.

Oh hell no. This is not happening. First Sony wants fromsoftware shares and now Mario and Luigi brothership. This one of these days where people are gonna start worrying more. How will this be ok for real. Nintendo fans will not be happy to hear this if they buy it.
