Hi, I'm Uyen Ninh but please just call me Uyen!
I moved from Vietnam to Germany 3 years ago for studying. I make silly videos about how Germany looks like through the eyes of a Vietnamese student - on my way to be your favourite Ausländer! :D

Real talk: That was INCREDIBLY brave of you both to have an open conversation like that (some couples require YEARS of couples' therapy to get to that level of openness and vulnerability!), let alone on the spot, LET ALONE x2 for doing it on a public forum! Super brave, super honest, super commendable! Everyone take note: That's couple goals.

It's like a therapy session: "I understand my drawbacks, but I am not going to change." 😂

“You never know with men”
“I am here for eating”
Girl, same! I feel this in my soul! 😂

Most of your conversation does not seem to be about being German or Vietnamese, but about being a normal couple with normal different personalities and taste. And coming from a place of love and compassion, you try and accept each other for who you are, while also getting your individual needs met. Best wishes and blessings on your relationship and travels.

I would love to see Uyen and German Boyfriend say what they like about traveling together and what they like about each other in general, too. It's always helpful to reaffirm the good things after you've had time to air legitimate grievances.

my golden rule for traveling with another person is: you don't have to do everything together. you can split up and meet again in the evening, share stories & plan the next activities together.

I'm German, but while traveling I might be more like Uyen. Good food is one of the important things while traveling. I like to visit like at most one or two sights in one day. And relax the Rest. Perfect vacation for me is alternating one day of doing something planned and the next day just relax.

My mom is Middle Eastern and my dad is Dutch. Your cultural differences are so similar to those of my parents, and I ended up being a mix of those.

You guys are so wholesome. This video feels like sitting with friends with a cup of coffee, sharing and listening to each other's frustrations in couple life.

African boyfriend will happily eat once a day. And he'll happily eat the exact same meal over and over. He tried to train me into the same habits on a 5 week trip and discovered that hangery me is not fun!

I feel you about being ignored. I'm Asian married to an American. Sometimes I feel like I should wear a sign containing my salary so people know that I am more than capable of taking care of myself and I am not with him for financial reasons or visa purposes. I tried to just ignore it when we first got together but when it happens over and over again, it becomes annoying and sad.

I agree with Uyen that a big part of travel is the food! :D I also agree that lying around by the pool, relaxing and doing what you enjoy is important when on holiday if that’s what makes you feel content 😊

This. This is what relationships are. This is exactly what every relationship should be. Both able to not just compromise, but to fully understand and accept the things that annoy each other, and to talk about those things openly.
You 2 are adorable, I really hope you have enjoyed your holiday ❤

I feel like this was one of the more real videos we’ve seen. You can tell these are genuinely things that get on each others nerves. And that’s okay. So much of social media makes it seem like these are not part of a healthy relationship and to be avoided at all costs, but these are things that are normal and healthy. Obviously they can get out of hand, but you shouldn’t give up on a relationship because of some friction. And you should talk about them.

One thing to suggest, it is okay to do things separately. I like traveling and seeing places with other people, but I also like getting out on my own. It gives you some control over your own itinerary and gives you something to talk about later. This is obviously not as possible everywhere, but a good thing to keep in mind.

The German man can never pack too many socks for his sandals. BTW: Speaking from personal experience, you also find these problems in couples from the same culture...

"What do you like to eat?" "Everything else." That made me laugh out loud. A very enjoyable visit with Uyen and German Boyfriend.

Hello guys! I'm from Greece and I like u, but most Uyen, cause I come from a traditional family too! I also enjoy the fact that u, Uyen, respect ur introvert bf, but at the same time u show details of ur relationship, so that we can learn more about how relationships really work! We also learn about life and people in Germany! I wish u the best! 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
