How long does it take for the client computer to show up on the server / host? Cause I have already connected server and client as you have showed in the video; but the server (host:55414) doesn't show anything? And the client still shows "idle". 🤷‍♂

Man, that is so easy in the video. I used to work at a company where we had 10 (sometimes 15) staff running around doing backups of everyone's PCs. We even had to pay over-time for them to do it at nights and over weekends when staff were not using computers. Wow, technology has changed in a short period of time.

@TechnoDadLife Have thought of doing tutorial for OMV6? Urbackup is no longer on extras. Apparently Docker is only solution?

any way you could redo this one with OMV5 and Portainer? With OMV5, URBackup was moved to a docker container only. :( Novice to all of this, but IT "geek" with 20+ yrs experience, trying to teach myself Raspian and all of the OMV goodies. :) thanks!

Hi. Good day.
I am trying to install urbackup on omv5 over raspberry pi 4b. Using portainer, the installation was successfull. However, I find it nowhere in omv5. Portainer shows urbackup running and no errors .
Any chance you can cover this sort of configuration? Thank you

I'm a newbie to creating backups and would like to know if my idea would work using UrBackUp . I have two machines, a windows 10 desktop with (3) three internal nvme ssd drives, a windows 10 Laptop with (2)two nvme internal drives and (2)two nvme external drives.


My idea is to use a mini computer running windows 10 or 11, with a large (maybe a 5T ssd) drive for holding backups, the OS(10/11) on a 128GB nvme drive.

populate the mini PC with the windows version of Urbackup server, the Desktop and Laptop with the Urackup client version, and do my backup of files from both machines. I'm not interested in the speed of the backup or stuff like that. I just want to be able to backup certain files and folders on a scheduled basis automatically. would my idea work?

Can y6ou advise on how to sync tow Raspberry pi 4 with OMV5 on that would be remotley connectted via the internet so if at home i have all my data and can work on it and it updates the changes to the remote one at my other house and changes there update to the home one and visa versa i know its wont be fast but thats not an issue just so i load stuff at home i can get it at the other house later as well thanks

I read up and that Restore Process doesn't look easy nor trivial -- if you have multiple drives to restore. On Windows, I keep my C: drive on one SSD and my Programs on another B: Drive. That way things are faster. But I'd be curious to see a Restore to one location ... let alone two. Doesn't look like the URBackup GUI is that complicated nor does it give more helpful options. So, have you tried the Restore Process (just as someone below asked?). Be nice to see a video where you do a restore of it and put the link at end of this video.

I can't find URBackup in the Plugins. I'm looking under plugins but it's just not there. Am i doing something wrong?

not possible on OMV 5 anymore.. what about borgbackup?

Would it not be easier to go in to the backup settings in windows and select the shared backup folder on omv, at least windows will backup every 30mins/hour that’s how I’m doing it.
