EASY BACKUPS | Compressed, Encrypted, Rolling | Duplicati | Windows, Mac, Linux

Duplicati: The best free/open-source backup software you're likely not already using. Rolling, incremental, encrypted backups + Cloud compatibility. It's everything you want in a good backup solution and more! No longer risk losing your data, or previous copies of it, all with minimal space impact.

My results (All file types):
- Default: 63.17 GB into 58.55GB (~80MB/s)
- LZMA (level 9): 63.17GB into 57.45GB (~20MB/s)
LZMA is much heavier on the CPU and much slower. My opinion? Default is good enough for most things most of the time.

I don't care what this video is about; I'm just here for the voice, and my daily ASMR.

Been using Duplicati for years. Very fine control of what gets backed up, and backups are encrypted at the source for security. I have a distant FTP server hosting backups, and have had100% success recovering files from backups. Highly recommended!

Had to smile: You keep calling it "Duplicity" but it's "Duplicati". There is a backuptool "Duplicity" for Linux nonetheless.

I'm just an average guy doing projects for a living. Its got way to many choices for me. It makes nervous. Every choice means me going down another rat hole of time spent. Simple for you techies that love this world - its a nightmare for guys like me.
What would be great is an overview UI that says only 3 to 5 choices and no more. Thats all. I dont care if I waste some storage space. Much better than wasting my time and stressing me. You guys work that out and just do it. I would be a customer of that kind of product and I would be happy to pay for it.

The reason I like this program is that the backups are not singular binary blobs. You can choose which files to "backup", so if you're during a reinstall, you can just "restore" your data.

what do you know about maco if I use it by automatically scheduling backups does it keep a daemon that does everything in batch or do I need to have the whole app active? I use Kopia at the moment and it seems for this to work with scheduled tasks it needs to have the whole app started.

do you have any recommendations for client server backup solutions that are open-source?

It would be nice if you could do a video on the warnings: what do they mean, what to do about them, and the meaning of the terms: Examined, Opened, Added, Modified and Deleted.
Do these warnings compromise the integrity of the backup?
Thanks

Looks very promising. Will try it out when it is released. There is NO way I'm using Beta software for backups.

There is other service that lets you pick the source data from a FTP server? (that is free), thanks!

Much talk about how to use it, but not very clear on key points about what it can DO:
1. Can I save my WHOLE system?
2. Can I, if my PC dies, simply buy a new PC and restore EVERYTHING. Not just some project files - I mean EVERYTHING as in EVERYTHING. Windows, all applications, all files, EVERYTHING. Such as: If I bought the same PC again, I would be in the exact same situation, without having to reinstall a single program (besides Duplicati)?

Thank's for the video. Can I save the blocks with duplicati in a single zip file on OneDrive?
Every time I login in OneDrive on a new computer, it takes forever to sync all 30k block files

Is it possible that when backup is done, that the program automaticly makes a shutdown to the computer? So that I can start it manually and go to bed. When it is ready computer goes off ...

Duplicati is extremely buggy when using an S3 target. I haven't tried other backup types yet, but next on my list is SFTP.

Is Duplicati able to backup and restore a whole OS partition?
