There’s so much great stuff in this I want to take the time to document everything.
0:13 the intro mirrors the real Wallace and Gromit openings
0:33 the Techno-Trousers are still on the run (with the Pixar lamp SFX for some reason)
0:44 the moon has exploded for reasons not made clear
0:51 As well as looking a bit worse for wear, Gromit behaves like a cartoon dog
1:04 Newspaper headlines include “Beloved Chicken Murdered” - a reference to Feathers McGraw, the Penguin from The Wrong Trousers, “Sheep facing extinction” - a reference to Preston’s sheep rustling in A Close Shave, and “moon cheese causes cancer” - a reference to the “moon cheese shares soar” newspaper article in The Wrong Trousers, itself a reference to A Grand Day Out.
1:11 Another Newspaper article relating to The Cooker from A Grand Day Out, and a Garfield comic.
1:21 Ads for Preston’s Dog Food and Mrs Tweedy’s Chicken Pies, references to A Close Shave and Chicken Run respectively.
1:38 (and onwards) Wallace is voiced using the recordings from the real programme
1:48 The telephone number for 62 West Wallaby Street is “411”. I’m not sure what this means so if anyone knows do tell me. It’s apparently the number for directory enquiries in North America.
1:58 An incredibly accurate depiction of local Police (except that it takes less than 30 minutes to get to anyone)
2:03 Gromit not having a mouth is acknowledged. (I don’t think it’s ever been explained in the Wallace and Gromit Cinematic Universe)
3:01 the Knit-O-Matic from A Close Shave
3:05 The jumper implies that the skeleton is/was Shaun
3:09 the moving clay marks on Wallace’s hand much like the real programme
3:13 Wallace does his signature hand wiggle thing
3:22 The “No-Escape-O-Matic”, named in the style of most of Wallace’s inventions. The buzzer is the sound effect used in the buttons Wallace uses to issue commands to Gromit from his bed.
3:29 Wallace’s eyes glow for some reason
3:30 I don’t know what the squeaky sound effect is from but it’s funny
3:38 Gromit can escape from the chair but does not for reasons unclear
4:00 the meter clicking up from the skull and crossbones to the cheese is unironically the funniest part of this video
4:13 the cheese rotates in Wallace’s hand like it’s just been picked up by the player in a video game

Anyway that’s my PhD Thesis on a random YouTube video thanks for listening

I feel like using actual pre-existing dialog for Wallace instead of AI makes this a lot creepier, and I like that.

I love how you can really that you appreciate the actual Wallace and Gromit and you're not just taking the piss at them for being a well-known property. The opening with the pictures mirrors The Curse of the WereRabbit, the newspaper's front page is about the death of Feathers McGraw, you can see the Techno-Trousers are still at large. Even stuff like how Wallace and Gromit's skin is constantly morphing like they were made of clay and are getting smudged by people's fingers between frames, and Wallace's movements are slightly jerky really show your appreciation to the art of stop-motion animation.

I love how Gromit could escape the chair but was too petrified by fear to realize his arms and legs cold just slide out of the 'harness'

Only Wallace would make a “no-escape o-matic” and a “cheese” setting on an electric chair!

The 'No Escape O-Matic' damn near killed me.

At first, you'd probably think that Wallace appearing on the phone was to make it more scary and make Wallace seem like some supernatural threat, but then you remember old phones have a linked connection between bases; Wallace simply picked up the other phone in the hallway.

Pretty eerie and surreal, but really love how the clay textures constantly changes, and how Wallace has a similar appearance (or at least some aspects) to Klaymen from The Neverhood.

Something about the idea of Wallace being a jagged-looking psychopath is just funny to me especially with how He just wants to turn everyone including Gromit into Wensleydale.

It’s actually a fact that gromit does indeed kind of have a mouth, in the wrong trouser. We can see him eating cereal and he would be interrupted so we wouldn’t necessarily see how he eats it and in the curse of the were rabbit, we can see him drinking tea.
He also grunts in a grand day out and the wrong trouser too, but I’m not sure if they forgot about it.

Nice cartoony video tho!

Using Wallace’s actual voice lines and sentence mixing to voice him instead of an impressionist genuinely scared the shit out of me so much when I heard it, and I love that while gromit is scared and human feeling, wallace can still fuck with cartoon physics and stretch his limbs comically, although now he has a much more malicious intent behind it.

I absolutely love the call backs to chicken run, curse of the were rabbit, shaun the sheep and even pixar with the wrong trousers walking like the pixar lamp

There's so many great details in this, but a few particular things stand out for me.

1. The shifting surfaces of the models to simulate the old claymation vibes. Feels good. 😁
2. Wallace more or less being himself, but simultaneously utterly deranged is hilarious.
3. The tone still having an _innocence_ about it, if you will. Makes it very watchable while retaining that unique weirdness you've infused it with - not an easy thing to achieve.

Also, R.I.P. Shaun. 🤣

I’ll be honest, the moment at 2:26 when Wallace’s head bashed through the door genuinely made me jump the first time I saw it
