I have no skin in the game to tout this SLR Magic lens OTHER than to report my findings. I recently bought this little lens ($149.95 Amazon) and compared it to my Olympus 7-14mm f2.8 PRO lens. Virtually exact same quality video images at 8mm! I AM NOT KIDDING. This shouldn't be, given the difference in cost. Maybe I got an excellent copy.

However, the Olympus lens is faster at f2.8 constant, has the 7-14mm zoom factor, is built VERY well, is splash proof, dust proof and has auto focus.

Still, this tiny SLR Magic lens is great for what it is...a tiny, manual, tiny, lightweight, tiny, very inexpensive, tiny, sharp lens WHEN STOPPED DOWN to f5.6-f8.0! There is, of course, no auto anything here, it is an all-manual lens. It does NOT seem designed to be tossed around carelessly, yet has good build quality for such a small lens. The only thing I question is why does the focus-lock setscrew have such a minuscule thread? If you were to give it a firm tightening twist, it would surely strip the threads. I'm guessing this focus-lock setscrew is there to keep the lens from vibrating out of focus while mounted on a drone's gimbal or a hand-held gimbal?

It is wonderful for using on my Zhiyun Crane V2 gimbal with either my bulky Panasonic GH5 or small Panasonic GX85.

I am amazed by it's sharpness and very decent contrast. I'll keep it and use it. Thanks, SLR Magic for such a small-priced, high-quality lens.

Almost forgot. The photos from the SLR Magic lens look comparable to the 7-14mm f2.8 PRO lens, other than the corners aren't as sharp.

Picked up the SLR Magic 8mm a week and a half ago. Maybe I got a bad one, but it was terrible. Very soft, no matter the f-stop. Sent it back.
Did SLR Magic send you the sample or did you purchase from a retailer?

Warping doesn't seem quite as bad with the SLR Magic to my eyes. Also, it seems a little more "organic, " not as clinical in terms of sharpness. Nice comparison.

Is the warping from the Laowa possibly because the camera is try to compensate for the lens image stabilization? I wonder if you switched it off on the lens it it would work?

Is it just me or do the parts filmed with the smartphone look better then the ones filmed with the actual camera?

why don't use the dji osmo pocket for vlogging ? it is tiny, stabilized and HD and 4k60fps

The Laowa looks waay more crisp. but for some reason the background feels weird. When you move the camera just slightly the background moves in strange ways that I can't quite explain
